The Doctor (who is presently nursing a killer hangover) insists that it wasn't the green tea that intoxicated him. It was, as Miya surmised, the ginseng.

And he's not talking about what happened after he left, but Chae-ri's still grinning from ear to ear...

Well, I can pronounce Tchoupitoulas although I always forget the first "U" when I'm spelling it! Of course, I lived in Uptown for 14 years, the last three on Laurel St., two blocks north of Tchoupitoulas. I better know how to say it!

Then again, N'Awlinians almost never actually pronounce street name correctly, such as Calliope. Ask the bus driver on the Magazine or Tchoupitoulas routes to stop at "Cal-LIE-Oh-Pee" and he's likely to give you a strange look. Say "Cally-Oh" (silent "P") and he'll know exactly where you want to stop. ;)

(How I zeroed in on that part of the discussion, I'll never know but I'm good at getting side-tracked!)

@delbelcoure: Glad you liked it. Hey, why should I suffer alone? ;D

@Mlatch: Well, I know you can pronounce it...and I think creative pronunciation must be a central Gulf Coast thing. If you ask for directions to Belle Fontaine (a local south Mobile County township named after one of my girls) from a local, they'll look at you funny until they brighten and say "Oh! You mean Bell Fountain!" (accent on the first word) And Bayou la Batre isn't Bayou la Batre, either. It's Ball a Bat Tree. True fact.

I never thought of MST-ing the Manifesto, most entertaining. :D

And it's not just a Gulf Coast thing- there is a small town near here named Galveston. Pronounce it GAL-veston and people will look at you oddly. Give it the local pronunciation of gal-VEST-on and we're with you.
