Etsy Scam Warning

Postby Kirahfaye » Mon Sep 05, 2016 6:16 am

Hey, all - a member of one of the BJD FB groups I frequent posted this Etsy message she received and while it absolutely reeks of scam, I wanted to make sure all of you were aware of it. I don't know if the original poster is a seller or buyer. (She did report it to Etsy, btw.)

Acid Jones sent you a conversation on 04 September, 2016.
Payed Video Collab
Hello! I was wondering if you would like to partner up with Marina Joyce and I? We are doing a collab video and were wondering if you'd like to do a OOAK/BJD video with us? It would give you a lot of exposure and Marina and I would pay you $100 EACH after the video was done, including $30 for every 5,000 views the video gets. All you would have to do is send me one of your dolls and 1-3 outfits for about a week. For each accessory, piece of clothing, or piece of furniture you lend me, Marina and I will each give you $5-20. For each extra doll, we will each give you $75 more. I'd send it right back and if it gets damaged at all (completely unlikely), I'd pay for it and all the expenses you put into the doll. Thank you so much for your time!

Obviously, anyone with the ability to shell out that kind of money can buy their own dolls and clothing.

There's a thread like this on DOA, just read it this morning. She's been contacting a lot of people about this. Apparently, she also has a DeviantArt and Instagram account. They say she's 14 years old. I VERY highly doubt a teenager has that sort of money to blow. And if she did she'd be blowing it on dolls of her own.

Yeah, boy, teenagers are stupid these days. Guess it's what happens when you stop teaching them things. Like respect for others. @_@

This is why you keep broken parts, smelly clothes, and other crap around to send people like that a P-P-P-Powerbook Dollfie. I have a supply of environmentally friendly horse crap to pack it in instead of packing peanuts.

Well, we have teens in this group that are quite the opposite. I have no idea if this is a guy, girl, adult or teen. I just know it's a scam.
