I don't know which doll to buy!

(This probably sounds like something that should be written in a noobish netspeak with lots of bad grammar, but please bear with me here....)

Okay, I just counted my savings and found out that I had over $100 which would be enough to buy my originally planned obitsu 23cm, supplies and throw in another Obitsu or a Hujoo for a good measure.

It would be nice if it just ended quickly like that with less options, but nooooo.....

The only problem is, I had my eyes on YuHao Tart girl, who was a 1/4 scale and only $91 because MoC decided that YuHao had poor quality. I figured that she would be sold out so I kind of gave up, but crap, she's still in stock. And now it's tempting me......(but she would be off topic on JS, which is the only other doll forum I'm in beside this if you don't count The Joint).

Now I feel really torn, between going with my original plan and saving the rest for another doll I want, or getting a tiny (obitsu 11 or Hujoo baby or Hujoo girl or even another body for my extra floating head I'll get), or getting Tart (which would be doll only without anything else).

So, um,

Help? :?:

My first instinct in your case is that you should definitely get a BJD because you eventually want to make one. This means you'll get to see what a BJD looks like and how the joints work.

Don't let the forums you're on dictate which doll you get. This is silly. Besides you will probably be able to save up 35 bucks or so in another two months to get the body + head + whatever else from JS.

That's just my opinion.

OF course it's true you can get the Hujoo and the OBitsu, but these will still be available while YuHao might not be?

Honestly, I would say get Tart, simply because the price she is being offered at is once in a life time and like Landwhale said, Obitsu and Hujoo are going nowhere anytime soon and if anything they'll just come out with new ones you might want even more then what they have available now.

While Tart will be gone, or you'll have to pay more for her and you might not be able to afford her.

It depends on what you really want in all honesty :3

Well, look at it this way. Hujoo and 23cm are always in stock and their price doesn't change.

As for the forum thing - whether you buy a doll or not shouldn't be affected by what forum you can post on - you need to love the doll first! I have plenty of dolls that are OT on Jspot.

And there is always Den of Angels..... :?

It defiantly was worth getting one so I could really get a feel for BJD's, and really it's almost impossible to get one with that good a body for that cheap else where. I regret that Amelia's not perfect, but I would have regretted that I didn't get her far more.

Thanks for the advice, everyone. It's an unexpected change of plans but a pretty good one :3 They say that the dolls have flaws but, hey, so long as it works for the customer, who cares.

BTW, little bubbles on the face can be sanded off or you can make them into freckles/ moles. I think she'll be awesome and I'm looking forward to seeing your pics of her.

Yay! I just placed an order! About the little bubbles and rough sanding marks, when they say "all over the body" would that pretty much include the head? (I would think so.....which means sanding time which means extra safety precaution)

And would sanding underwater without any mask be okay? or would getting a respirator a better option (or both)?

(So many questions...)

how exciting for you! resin BJD are always such an adventure-you'll love her I'm sure :)
You should ALWAYS wear a respirator...better safe than sorry

With sanding just make sure you use several different grades of sand paper and wet sand. If you finish with 800-1200 grit wet sanding, you'll get a super nice smooth finish.
