Wait till you see the Sarah Palin

Is it just me or does this look like a certain current politician?

Um...yea - I'm thinking they definitely used a certain president as their source material on that one. An absolutely stunning likeness too I might add!

And for anyone else reading this - just remember to keep the discussion about the DOLL not the POLITICS :)

Dragon Models does that kind of thing -- model their various military action figures after well-known faces. (for example, the "Pearl Harbor" WWII pilot I have bears an interesting resemblance to Ben Affleck... And one I picked up nude on one of the kitbashing sites actually looks like a (youngish) G.W. Bush if you squint a little. I try not to, I need him to be someone else...). I forget how many times they've used Clint Eastwood for various figures.... (they seem to like using movie actors who've done films that match the figure's time period or military type they're aiming for).

There was an "official" Obama action figure released during the campaign (came with tall stool, microphone and American flag, IIRC...). My roommate got one, it's really nice.

That's a great likeness! Do those figures reach the mass-market here, or are they really aiming for the Asian market?

I saw that last week and I have mixed feelings about it. I'm OK with a company putting out a figure that represents a world leader or major political/historical personality as long as it is labeled and sold as such. I feel weird about a company using the likeness of such a person as a "generic" headsculpt. Maybe it's just me but somehow it seems inappropriate.

http://www.famousfigures.com/ Has a list of sculpts that look suspiciously like famous people. They're missing some like my Power Team Elite Anderson Cooper and Barrack Sergeant Paul McGann but it's a good reference list.

I agree with Mlatch that it's a sneaky way to get out a likeness. They don't have to pay rights this way, do they?
