How do your dolls travel?

Postby Alopecia No Hime » Tue Sep 13, 2011 12:45 am

I know this question has been asked before but I am curious. Be it to meets or out for a photo shoot how do your dolls travel?

I usually just pose Haruka until she's virtually in a ball and I put her into my pocket or purse. She doesn't have a face-up so I don't worry about messing it up.

On most days I put my 1/6 doll in a ziplock bag(max 3) and stuff her/him in my lunch time handbag. On shoot days I stuff them in their shoe carrier bag(max 8) or stuff them in my Dollmore long bag with my 1/3.5 (max 5+1).

And since my 1/3.5 is an 50cm Obitsu she can contort herself to fit into the shoe bag(max 4 +1) if my shoulders are too sore for the dollmore bag

Outside of their boxes I have a Dollzone case that the 60 and 70s fit in to along with a mini and smaller. If it's just Xavier he has his coffin.

Right now the 1/6 dolls have their choice of plastic tubs, I have some older Barbie cases, and for awhile one of those home made totes with doll pockets on the outside and a big pocket in the middle. The Doctors can travel in the Duck Tape TARDIS.

Ella gets a face protector and gets tossed in my purse. Elliot has an eye glass case. Astrid gets put back in the bag she came in and then tucked in with a bigger doll or if she's the only one going, into my purse. Taavi has a long doll carrying bag and for now Dani goes back into her BBB box she came in.

Cherry has a silk travel sleeve I sewed for her. I wrap her in that and then tuck her gently into my backpack for normal transport. For doll meets and conventions she has a traveling bag that's actually a crafting bag I bought from Wally World.

My newest one Daphne, just kind of floats around at the top of my purse. But I've been thinking about getting her a cell phone case or glasses case to chill in. All my BBB/RS girls go into the BBB sleeping bags I have, and then either into my backpack, or my Volks case that I still have. (Mostly depends on if I'm bringing my laptop with me where I'm going.)
A hobby isn't supposed to leave you wistful, regretful and vaguely disappointed. BJD collecting is as customizable as the dolls themselves. Do whatever pleases you the most, because otherwise, why do it at all? All for the 'Gram Bitches love the 'Gram.

My big boys always ride in my 70cm Dollmore carrier with a giant fluffy pillow over them. They're really way too big and heavy for me to carry them any other way. I have an MSD carrier that I snagged a few years back that I usually use for my MSD boys, but it's a bit small so if I'm taking more than one I sometimes use the bigger carrier for them as well. For tinies...it depends. I sometimes wrap them in a thick scarf and tuck them into a purse, (I do this a lot with Peapod, my little BBB Nissa). Tussels, my Glati actually came with a nifty padded zipper pouch, so he gets tucked in there for travel.
I don't really use face protectors...although I really should start.
My 1/6 vinyls usually get popped into a pocket or purse with their arms tucked over the edge so they can wave at people :D

Lol, the farthest any of my dolls has traveled is into the backyard... and Marika is the only one who even made it that far

I am nervous about bringing them places with me.
I have so many dolls that I can't fit all their names in my signature anymore. @__@

In the past i have used wine boxes. They can usually be found for as cheap as a dollar, and are a great size for most smaller dolls. They come with a lid, and a handle most of the time. The inside can be padded easily too. Other then that i just carry them in my bag wrapped in a soft cloth.
