So would it fit a Dollzone annie as is (just needs a strap in the back to keep it on) or should I keep going or what?

I would think you would have to try it on the doll to see if it is the right size/look or not. Bust size can make a huge difference in how something fits and lays so comparing to your hand might not work. Good luck!

Annie is the MSD sized girl, right? I looked at my hand, then at my SD... That seems like it'd be big somehow for an msd. How is it going to be worn? The website says it's 17.5 cm all around for her bust area.

Well, I don't have a DZ MSD, but looking at my BBB MSD that's huge, assuming you have small hands like I do. Have you tried looking on Ravelry? I know they have some free patterns for MSD that you could use as a guide.

Ravelry is an amazing!! place to go for help. There's a ABJD group you can join. I know they'd be plenty of help. :) I go on there to find stuff to knit for my girl. Do you only have specific yarn/needle to work with? There's always the option of finding patterns for kids or adults in aran/bulky/super bulky and scaling down needle and yarn size. I found a sweater pattern that was originally meant for super bulky yarn and used a worsted to make it to scale for my SD.

Since I'm not a crocheter, I might not be good at guessing which direction to go. Lol but maybe you could try a simple crochet barbie or blythe pattern with your worsted yarn and needle?

I just measured my hand and would say make your ties for this top. The edges might nearly meet all the way in the back once on her.
