Serious announcement

As of 9am this morning I joined the ranks of the unemployed.

After 7.5 years of dedicated service it was decided at my place of work that my particular position was being eliminated. That's fancy corporate speak for "we want to bring in new people, but since you haven't done a damn thing wrong to deserve being fired we'll do it this way instead.".

Short term this should not affect administration of the forum. Long term is more uncertain. At some point in time if I do not have an income I will have to cancel my internet connection - I'm really hoping that doesn't happen.

I'm also hoping this will not affect my ability to send out the contest prizes in the new year, but I won't know until the time comes.

As of right now, I am not planning on selling off any dolls as they at least are giving me a somewhat decent severance package. But I won't be exactly rolling in dough either.

I wish you well in your new search. And if you do have problems for the contest prizes, you can always start a donation til, so it can still happen with the support of those in the forum.

If it comes down to it I think we should all donate a buck or two now and again to keep your internet on. Being unemployed is bad enough. Not having internet won't help your job search and you will need your online friends and the doll talk to keep you going. I've been there. Being online on a board or two kept me sane. I don't want to see you give that up. I love it here besides. I'd hate to see this forum go away, I really would. Hugs...

Thanks folks, and please don't worry that this forum will go away! There is an excellent support system here in K2, Cirque, Zirc, etc... as mods and if I had to be out for a bit they would be more than able to keep things running. Financially, in terms of domain and hosting, the site is just fine and ok for a while

God willing I won't be unemployed long. Push comes to shove I do temp work like I have before Or maybe I'll decide to go back to school and live off of financial aid like all the law school students I know hahahahahaha

Network like crazy!! Most people I know who have a job got them through friends. Of course that doesn't help the people, like me, who don't have many friends. I really hope something opens up for you, but do yourself a favor and take the first week off. Mourn, bitch, throw fits, anything that will get the feelings out.

I'm so sorry to hear the news. I was laid off in 2007 so I know what it's like. Suddenly that mortgage seemed SO HUGE! ha ha. I'll pray for you to find something soon. *hugs*
