At a weird phase where some of it works and some of it needs a belt sander

I did Martin's floof I can eventually do Larry's hair.

Jared's face is finished for this stage, just need to do his hair and fill in a space on the neck.

This batch will be sealed with something then have alginate molds made then positives with a casting plaster. What I'm using at this stage is too soft to hold fine details.

They could make more of a mess.

Definitely get a plastic thread holder if you want to use one because it cleans up easily.

I don't know what they do when I'm not looking but their hair still needs work.

Otherwise it's time to paint, seal, and hope the experiments I do with moulding another head work out.

Little things to fix, and Larry still needs more hair but looking good. Might do a quick paint job just to see what's happening.

These four are definitely getting molded in alginate and cast in plaster. It's a method I used many years ago. It'll give a strong base that will take the details needed for ears and stuff. The plaster one will then be copied for whomever does the resin casting.

Well...

Always do a quick flesh tone paint job because you'll see flaws you might have missed with plain white clay. Most of it's little places that need to be filed down but there's some places that need to be filled. This is one of the stages that is aggravatingly slow and can be a bit discouraging at times.

The three on the bottom are along for the ride as long as the fixings are out and they'll be what they be.

Good news, the original heads came out of the molds and the plaster is in. Now to wait at least 24 hours before seeing if this succeeded or it goes on the blooper reel.

A couple coats of Liquitex paint on gloss worked long enough to keep the air dry from melting. The originals are drying on the wrack.

They survived, and I can't say what's a bit of melt and what's a bit of my sculpting skills.

Of course Martin looks pleased to have dunked his head in the alginate.
