so, i started making like a 40cm (or close to it) bjd doll earlier this yr but stopped making it when i realized i messed up REALLY bad in several areas...then this week, & after months of debating whether or not i should continue this project, it occurred to me why i messed up, it was because of 2 things: #1 i wasn't paying attention to what i was doing in some areas, & #2 is because the bjd's size was just way too small for me to get the look that i wanted for what i have in mind. so im thinking about stocking up on my art supplies & just doing a 60cm boy instead! he'll be exactly the same as his smaller prototype, just on a MUCH larger scale...here are some images of the progress i've made with the 1st doll before i decided to stop...any tips or helpful/friendly advice are always welcome! let me know if you notice something that i should have done differently & i will try to incorporate that into the new doll. also, anybody have any tutorials they'd be willing to share on how to make single ball joints for a 60cm bjd out of polymer clay? im soooooo confused in this area, really need all the help i can get! lol, thanks in advance!! *UPDATE!!* sorry about the issue regarding my images, if u really wanna leave me any advice but cant without seeing my images, then go to my facebook fanpage i've made for my artwork, the page is titled: "Lauren's Art Extravaganza." thanks in advance!!

Lauren, there is a very useful book by Susanna Oroyan entitled Designing the Doll. See if you can find a copy at the library to look through. I've seen it on eBay for around $10 with free shipping.

Thanks! Sadly my folks don't allow me to have an eBay account so I'm not able to buy it but would Barnes & noble possibly carry it, do you think?

Check the library for books on making dolls - often the jointing is the same. The ones I have are all old, so I don't know what is in libraries now. You are looking for strung jointed dolls of any material.

Found this link after only a little searching for how to on the web: http://www.denofangels.com/joints/content.php?116-Ball-Jointed-Doll-Tutorial-Links-(checked-links-2012-01-23)

Definitely check the library first for any Susan Oroyan books. To buy you would have to look for sites like Amazon that have used books, any of her books are a boon to the doll maker.

My blog goes here, there, and everywhere but some places to start on what does and doesn't work http://dolfielittles.typepad.com/blog/2 ... -doll.html or working on critters such as Polymer/Prototype Pete, Sculpey Sid, and Garak http://dolfielittles.typepad.com/blog/2 ... garak.html Along with any old posts involving Roger.

This site has neat info http://morezmore.com/myblog/2010/01/02/bjd-1/

I would say to be careful about the length of the arms. It is very easy to make them so long that your doll will look apish.

They probably would, but it would cost a lot more. Check the library to see if you think it's useful first. If you do, see if your parents would buy it for you from eBay or Amazon or half.com.
