Sealing rooted doll heads?

I'm curious if anyone has tips for sealing dolls with rooted hair?
My main concern is that if I wrap the hair and tape the edges up it'll damage the sealant when I take it off x.x

Any advice would be appreciated as to if this is just paranoia or what you do to seal your rooted dolls.

Is the whole head painted or just parts? If I've done just the eyes and lips I use a paint-on sealer.

It's the eyes, eyebrows, lips, and cheek blushing.
Do those dry seamless? The big reason I want to spray seal is so I don't have brush marks in the finished result.

If you do it careful it can look almost invisible. They dry clear but you can tell that the painted parts have the coating on them, like glossy lips for example.

I can't say what it would look like on cheeks. Usually I do lips and eyes and I work with acrylic paint only on my rooted dolls. I know Bobby had his cheeks blushed with a paint wash but they aren't sealed and have held up all these years but I don't touch their faces either.

MSC was used on Chibi-Derp, who has a rooted head. I just pulled his hair back into a ponytail, saran-wrapped it, and made sure that the plastic went high enough to cover all the hair. The upside is that the plastic-wrapped ponytail is a great handle for while you are spraying. XD

Once he was sprayed, I then went back in and applied gloss to the areas that needed it.
