The idea of having a moving doll is a little scary to me. I wouldn't want one, but I know it would freak the crap out of my boyfriend and that would be a hilarious thought.

It may sound strange, but all I want mine to do is sit and have what he called
"Idle Mode" where it shifts it's weight and does things that a person would do just sitting
there waiting.
I actually dont want it to speak (ugh) or stand as that just adds to the complication/price/weight
too much factor.
Or Like my iCybie dog,or furby who became obnoxious when left alone, or wouldnt do anything
unless you touched it.
I think he is making a mistake making it so small and overly complicated.

K2 - You are BRILL! I really enjoyed reading your "rants?" (is that the offical term?) I loved the line where you siad there wasn't alot of smart in the smart doll! LOL

For the record I absolutely LOVE her anime head---can i get that on a regular BJD? I am so unfamiliar with the bigger doll companies.(edited to add that I went back and read about her head and I see it being referred toas a Dolfie Dream - so I googled that and see its VOLKS. so I run over there and get overwhelmed! LOL Some of the necks look a little too thick for some of the heads, while others are nice and slender, but the pics don't tell you which bust is phot'd with which head---Uggh- guess this is a mystery for another topic but i can see myself begging for Dolfie assistance one day soon!LOL)

I was mesmerized by the Video, but thought her legs were extremely bulky and unattractive (too much like my own legs and I am a guy--she has man legs for sure! LOL Wonder if they are hairy under the boots) after reading your info i can see why--I guess the bigger legs are needed to shift the center of gravity lower?

very inetresting read! THANK YOU!

It's really more like a "reality check".
We see a term like "smart doll", which subconsciously triggers connections to "smart" phones and other "smart" devices. Suddenly we're all dreaming of robotic dolls greeting us at the door and offering to fetch our slippers and read our email to us. While I wish Mr. Choo all the best in developing and bringing his vision to the market, we need to take a step back and look at the current state of the technologies involved and the costs that are going to be incurred. I have little doubt they will be able to bring 90% of their technological goals to the finished product (with a few variations like a standing base and outside power supply), I'm also fairly certain there will be a high retail cost for all this technology.

I also Agree about the cost.

I really play with dolls as a sort of surrogate thing. They are surrogates who take me into other realms and any place my imagination can go. They have one foot in my head in a way that would be become somehat limited by a surrogate who had programmed movements and responses.

While I would enjoy having one of these - she would be more of a novelty and probably NOT get played with as much as my other dolls, so I would expect her to cost little or no more than them honestly. I am sure she would be far over what I would consider paying- but I like the idea of her and apprecaite that people are out there trying to create things like her and that doggy you mentioned.

This has been a fun thread! Thank you again!
