Well, MC, I did find one I like and what's great about the dealership is that I can completely customize it to my liking. The ones on the lot are the display models. I found a 3 bed 2 bath double wide, it was on the short end but it's appeal was that it was wider and roomier. The kitchen area was cool it had an island/kitchen table thing going on. And if need be we can always tack on another room later. Although I would prefer a trailer with 4 rooms, but those are just as expensive as a normal house.

Oh wow, versora that sounds incredible!! Are you seriously looking into it? The customizing option is actually amazing. My grandmother's last house was bought in one of those "over fifty" communities that had just popped up in the area and she bought what was essentially a patch of land that she then told the contractors what she wanted, and it turned out to her benefit, most definitely. When we toured the display models with her and then got to see her customized options it was a really big contrast. Oh, the double wide trailers are definitely roomier, and it sounds like they really give you a lot of options. As for it being on the short side, do they, or would they, let you build a screened in patio/deck on the front? We had a side deck that ran the entire side of the trailer where we used to vacation and it was literally like having an addition on a house, it had it's own A/C unit, TV, everything to be nice and comfortable in the summer months. A mini-version of that as a back patio or front porch might go a long way in making it feel a bit "longer" and like you have a bit of extra space. I'm not sure how much outdoor lot space you get, so I might be saying things that are redundant, but eh, just trying to help! The trailer homes can be really, really nice. If you don't mind me asking, who all is living with you (animals included, the little buggers take up space! )? I'm curious as to the size of your family versus the size of your house since you seem quite adamant about staying out of a two bedroom!

Yes, there is a sliding glass door near the rear/kitchen that allows for a deck or patio. the blank land is very expensive the cheapest blank lot I found went for 14,500 dollars, and the trailer I like is in the low 50k range. So we'll have to look into trailer parks. There are two in our area One was single wides mainly and all looked like redneck trailer park. no offense to rednecks, lol. The second one looked better and catered to double wides.

Oh wow, the trailer you looked into sounds really nice!! I'm a definite pro-trailer person. I think they get this horrible reputation from...well, from parks like you mentioned looking at like the first one. Haha, I have to laugh because the place where I vacationed had another trailer park RIGHT NEXT TO IT, the only thing that separated the two parks was some trees, but you might as well have driven onto a different planet. The park we vacationed in was gorgeous, for lack of a better term, with a bay side view and private beach and a pool. Then you went into like...Horror Movie Trailer Park that was only hidden by a little bit of forest. It was like a cross between Deliverance and some D grade "Plants are eating us" movie. The trailers were dilapidated and covered in moss and vines and were being slowly eaten by the forest with no attempt at upkeep whatsoever. The people would stare out their windows and watch you from their porches and it was just...creepy as hell. *Shudder* So yeah, I completely understand wanting a nicer park!!! The double wide parks do tend to be nicer. Are you planning on staying within your general area, or are you doing a long range move?

Ah, yeah. Know how the horror movies are. I lived in a trailer park once and it was nicer than the one I mentioned, even though it was mostly for single wides. You had to pay more for a double wide due to the fact that they had to use two lots, they would place it side ways, not long ways. And the lots were pretty spacey. If I can help it I would like to stay in my current area. The house I like is in a nearby town that has an over crowded shool, due to the fact that two schools had to be shut down, so they sent all their students to the one in the middle, which would be the town my lovely colonial home is in. And I really hate tearing my kid away from his friends he made in the current location.

So from what I take it the trailer park is in the same school district that your son is in currently? And haha, I really wish I had taken pictures of "the park that shall not be named" (we couldn't get over the decline in quality between two parks that were literally a stone's throw away from each other) because it looked like the setting for a horror movie! And hopefully you can find a nice park in your area. Have you been doing much searching lately? The colonial house does sound very charming, but depending on how old your son is...well, you know how it is, sometimes it's better to keep them where they are, especially because the situation with the overrun district in the town with the colonial. I've seen that happen around here before and it's not pretty. Best case scenario is everyone barely gets an education, and worse case scenario is a lot like the phrase "the inmates are running the asylum"!

Yes it's in our current area. Only Two moblie home parks in the town, and right across the highway from each other, so you could say a stone's throw away, depending on how good your throwing arm is, lol. I've been searching for closer places that do loans for low income, and I hate the fact that the main HUD branch in IL is in Chicago, which is 3 hours from where we currently live.
