What about a participation theme? Right now you could start something for winter, pictures, outfits, anything doll related could be welcome as long as it fit in the winter theme. Or throw a virtual New Years party where dolls can share how they celebrate.

I participated in the first ever contest, the banana murder one. I was one of two entrants.

People love photo challenges, there was one a while back....

I've participated in quite a few swaps, (including some here, though it's been a while) and have hosted several on Junkyspot and DOA.

I love swaps!!! But I only participate when I know I'll have enough time/energy to devote to it, (I actually alllmost participated in the winter one here, but I had already committed to running one on DOA)

It could be that real life is hitting a lot of people hard right now and fun things with dolliehs take a back seat.

Also, although I don't think it's been so much of a problem here, on some of the other forums there seems to be a higher number of people flaking on swaps, (I know I myself didn't receive swap items for 2 of the 4 I did this past year). It can be kind of exhausting dealing with that. So, it could also be that some people on here who do swaps elsewhere as well are feeling a little burnt out. Like Trehowan and zirconmermaid said, it's really only fun if everybody does their part.

Some of the problem is... No one ever is alerted. A few times I've been messaged like during the Summer Swap reminding me that it was coming up. With the holiday swap I felt a little hurt that no one notified me about it, like I wasn't welcomed to participate (by the time I did find out it was already closed) Or there's just too much to do at the time of the swaps being announced. Like Halloween Swaps - Never really felt the need to enter them, because by the time Halloween comes around I'm scrambling like a psycho on Black Friday to get all of my dolls costumes done. When the Summer Swap came, I already had my sewing projects for the summer finished, anything else I did was just impulse, so it was easier. (I had a HUUGE summer meet up to attend to which I needed themed costumes, which I executed for EVERY SINGLE ONE of my dolls) Plus.... It feels sometimes like I'm seen as a pest because of my health issues... It's not a good feeling.

So my issue is lack of notification and sometimes being made to feel like a burden because of my health problems...
