Ever have a 'flaw' become part of the character?

General discussions about dolls, new releases, doll reviews...you know, stuff that doesn't really fit in all the other categories but is strictly about dolls.

I started to reply to this about the zit cream, had it turn into a ramble that was way too long, and decided to make it a separate post for the sake of what remains of my sanity:
viewtopic.php?f=13&t=11007

Back to other things, took a pic to show Summer's scar back when I first got her (factory defect split in vinyl caused by air bubble), and after I 'enhanced' it because I decided that if she had a scar anyway it might as well look like one. XD

Thanks! I made sure the leg was really clean, and then dappled on a thin layer of Red Devil All Purpose Caulk. I made sure to get it a little past the edges of the damaged area so it'd actually reinforce it as well. I waited until it was half-dry (about 15 seconds) and then started working in from edges to middle (the center was taking longer to set up) and pressed it down and rubbed it a bit to smooth any pointy bits from application and get the texture right. Then I just painted it with really thinned down acrylic paint. First layer was half and half medium magenta and cadmium red light, followed by two or three applications of red oxide. The paints I have in dropper bottles are thinned to where they're practically a wash tint instead of paint. The lighter parts are actually where the white caulk underneath still has an effect on the overall color.

The thing I like best is, since the caulk I use is what the back of the tube calls a 'siliconized acrylic', once dry it feels just like it was originally part of the leg cast. It doesn't even affect bending her knee at all and will bend right along with the rest of the rubbery vinyl.

I don't know if it counts, but my grey skin DF-H Zhi Yan arrived pretty marbled from the manufacturer (as well as only receiving the bottom half of her box, and even that was all ripped up, because AC had a mess up, so the whole order was a bit of a disaster.) I received a partial refund for the doll and a little bit of refund for the boxes that were incomplete.

Luckily, my Haldis was supposed to be a gargoyle, so it would make sense for her to have some marbling because she's made of stone. It doesn't show up well on photos, fortunately. That and the worst marbling is on her breasts, which are covered by clothes.
