Sorry, I think I missed a question or two but it's been a horrible few weeks here and I got behind on things doll related. Doll phobias? Well, the re-stinging thing, yeah. That is intimidating. I've never managed it yet on 18" plastic kid dolls and I'm definitely nervous of it because I am getting my first partially strung BJD, 2 of them Delilah Noir's, and if anything is wrong that way I probably won't be able to correct it. But my biggest phobia has already occurred, partly. My Mel Odom Gene dolls and my Madame Alex fashion dolls they're all going weird colors. I'm deathly afraid my Tonners are next. $125 and up retail price on some of these dolls and they're going yellow?
Okay I bought most of them for a lot less used, or got them as gifts from my family et all, but still they were sold new at that much! So far the only Tonner I'm noticing any change with is my Harry Potter. He's gone darker and a bit more olive skinned but I really dread what's happening to my other dolls happening to them. I've got dolls heads now that have no bodies because they got all brittle and yellow over time. From reading online I gather it happens all the time. Bad vinyl from the factories or something but it still bothers me a lot when this happens. I've been able to re-body some of them but I can't really afford to just go and buy new bodies for them all.
I'm thinking of trying this process just to see what happens. It seems to works on plastic computers and it's not like the bodies are usable otherwise anyhow. I read on a doll board someone had tried it on action figures and it worked. But I haven't seen anyone mentioning they've tried it on a fashion doll body. I doubt it would fix the brittle thing, but maybe it would de-yellow my Madame Alex and Gene dolls?
