Dollieh temptations and plans

Well, my mother has ONCE AGAIN managed to get herself into financial trouble and is having her wages garnished, so I'll be paying part of her bills this week. No preorder this week, I guess . . .

This is at least the seventh or eighth time this has happened in my lifetime. For the record, I'm 31. This happens a minimum of every 3-4 years. She has NEVER grown up enough to be able to handle her money. (And this is coming from the person planning to drop $120 on dolls!) She gets a new credit card, maxes it out, and throws away the bills until it goes to collections and her wages get garnished. It gets paid off, lather, rinse, repeat. WHY DO COMPANIES KEEP GIVING HER CREDIT CARDS?!

I'm so sad by this, I'm going to cry over it. But that's reality, isn't it?

Meh, crap happens, I guess. In my case, this particular crap happens a LOT.

Gather the proof she's fiscally irresponsible and start the process to have someone else, doesn't have to be you, have to cosign on things and manage her money for her. Also make sure she hasn't added your name to anything financial. Just trust me on getting ahead of stuff like that.

Doll plans in the sky would be to figure out how to make some sort of automat as neat way to display the grocery store and food court's worth of mini food I have. Even with their hollow tummies they can't eat it all at once.

Oh, she already pulled that "add my name to things" crap when I was 18. She took out a credit card ony name, maxed it out, and then grabbed the bills out of the mailbox and threw them away before anyone else could find them. I just happened to get the final notice before I would have had cops at my door telling me to appear in court before she could because the mail ran later than usual and she was at work. My grandmother helped me get it sorted out and paid off the settlement, then made my mother pay her back. She didn't take it seriously, until I threatened to take her to court for identity theft. Now she just ruins her own life instead of mine.

Again from personal experience you might have to let her fail and face her own consequences. If she knows she'll be bailed out she'll keep doing it. Talk to a professional financial person and the rest of your family about what you want to do going forward. We had to cut all ties with my sister after that disastrous summer of 2021 hinged on her being an irresponsible #$@!

Over on the other board someone brought up that a company is doing a cloth body, torso, upper arms and legs, and in the back of my mind I'm thinking of the work I've previously tried for replacing the body on my Obitsu 60. I'm pretty sure that plastic bead style doll/bear armature was at the junk store for a reason. Now i just need to convince myself to do some sewing again.

Again from personal experience you might have to let her fail and face her own consequences. If she knows she'll be bailed out she'll keep doing it. Put a freeze on your credit. It's easy to take off, but it prevents ANYONE, including your mother, from taking out credit in your name.
