 at ddavid! Too funny!

However, I have to agree about the Bratz. They do seem a bit much. The Bratzillas, not as much tho. I even have a few of those, or I did at one time. I think the RH girls proportions both face and figure make them look just cute to me.

I didn’t say hate now. I said dislike. I do think the Rainbow High girls are much cuter, though. They have pretty eyes. And hair.

I also never liked the Blythe dolls that much, but I like the Pullips. Again, because of the eyes. The Blythe have big round eyes that kind of creep me out, but the Pullips have pretty eyes with a more aesthetically pleasing shape. Just my opinion though.

Yes, I know the male characters are token boyfriends for female characters in the show, but that's not relevant to my doll collection.

Fanfiction authors have always held the mindset that the hetero canon of shows is more of a guideline anyway.

Not all fanfiction authors. Sorry, I just get triggered by sweeping inclusive statements like this.

Sorry, didn't mean to upset anyone. You're right, not ALL fanfiction authors are like that, just a lot of them are. Crack ships are always fun to me because it's interesting to see how people think the characters would interact.

Where did I put that thing about fan fiction and emotional investment... Perhaps we can agree that however it's written that fan fiction is the more adult version of the stories most of us played with our dolls when we were kids? Being that most kids who play with dolls are probably female then they could be exploring what it would be like to have a group of female friends.

In my day the cartoons, outside of Jem and My Little Pony, was one token female. And don't get me started on dolls I didn't/don't like the look of. Or what I think of dress codes and...

With the Rainbow High I haven't bought any because I don't like the big heads that much. I get the Blythe thing and keep mine for scientific purposes. With RH I could easily have started with a purple one, buying other dolls to get her clothes I liked, wanting all the Shadow High and so on.

I think I enjoy the big head/big eye dolls because I've been a long time fan/friend of Jasmine Beckett-Griffith. :D

Huh. Just got an email from Amazon with a new Rainbow High doll called Jewel Richie. She’s green-themed and she has vitiligo. I wonder if they’re gonna release other dolls with skin conditions, too. Seems to be a growing trend to be all-inclusive. Not a bad thing!

Ooh, I've seen a review of her! She's really pretty.

I think I dislike the big head/big eye dolls because I quickly overdosed in the 60s on Keane Kids.

And then it got really creepy later when I found out about the artist behind them...she was basically a slave to her husband who made her paint and took all the credit.
