For me it has to be the articulation...And how the body looks overall. I honestly have a hard time buying anything other then Obitsu's! :lol: I haven't met a doll I loved more then an Obitsu besides other ABS dolls. I've been spoiled by them so to speak. My tiny is an Obitsu my 1/6th is an obitsu if I EVER managed to get enough money for an MSD or an SD...Yep quite possibly they'll be an Obitsu too. XD;; I love how well they pose. I haven't met a doll that can pose like an Obitsu can to me or feel like the Obitsu ABS. I like Volks dolls too but I just can't stand the lack of certain joints. XD Maybe it's cause that was my first doll and it's sort of a safe zone for me...I love resin too it's beautiful to see all the different dolls, sizes and models but the price tag is what keeps me sort of in my little 'zone'. XD My parents don't even freak out anymore when I wanna get an Obitsu that's like thirty bucks but 105 was even getting a little 'pricy' for a Dal I'm now selling.

The face also is an important thing. If I don't like owner pictures or fall in love with it right off the bat I'll probably never like it. Ironically I used to be really creeped out by Nano-Haruka's...They always looked so angry in some pictures but after seeing different styled face ups on them...I fell in love. XD And after seeing a Nano-Gretel blank? Sold!

Sorry I didn't mean to ramble. XD;;

I think its a combination of some factors together which makes or breaks it for me.
With my Bambicrony I was looking for a cute yosd size which had to have beautiful eyes and a cute button nose. I also wanted it to have a joint in the body as well. And it had to have beautiful sculpted hands. And her joints shouldn't be too obvious. If they for instanse were double then I didn't want the peanut in the middle to be almost the same size as the upper or lower arm as I really dislike what that looks like without sleeves.
With Audrey I just fell in love with her face when I saw a picture of a liddell from another owner. And the nice thing was, the rest of her body fitted my ideals too. I did really want a double jointed soulkid but I didn't have enough financing to be able to buy a double jointed body. But I still looked at them because if I ever do have enough money I will buy her a double jointed one and it has to be the way I want it.
For my nex doll if there will be any more. The only criteria that stand are the joints thing and the nicely sculpted hands.
I think I also look at the headsize in comparence to the body and if the eyes are not too big and such. As I do like a bit of a natural look. And I like faces which do not already have a specifik emotion in it. I do like for example the fairyland pong pongs but I would never buy one cause she alsways looks overly excited. Which for some pictures is a good thing. But not for every picture.

Mostly the face: no droop-eye, no nose you could sword fight with, more roundish than oval, looks nice without factory face-up. Then jointing: Good posability, three-part torso preferably, lots of articulation. Finally, proportionality and general vibe I get from the doll. Sometimes everything is right but it still doesn't do it for me or it's perfect but in the wrong scale I want the character for.

I think that dolls tend to choose me--I'll just be browsing through pictures (either aimlessly admiring a company's dolls or looking at others') and I'll see one that just hits me as being perfect for some character. Like for Phobos, Libra, and Corbin--I just saw a doll with the right face (none of them has been actually shelled yet, though).
Otherwise I look for dolls who have character. I really like BBB MSD sculpts because they have character to them--which is why it was okay for my mom to just pick one for me.
And sometimes I just want a doll because it looks COOL--like the DC Alberta.
Posing is pretty secondary to me because I grew up telling stories with dolls that had four points of articulation. Though I have to say, my 1/6 Obitsus have really spoiled me.
