I phase too. Teen Skippers, Star Trek people, back to dolls, Re Ment, now Monsters. For a specific item/theme the Star Trek people are still in the lead but Monsters are catching up.

I have like 1/2 my dolls sprawled out in my room and a friend came over to pick something up and he was like well you can tell this is a single womans room. i thought huh? then after he left i looked around thinking it was a comment that some of my clothes were on the floor and then realized i think it was more the dolls everywhere more then the few articles of clothes and the misc cords i needed to sort through. i guess to some it is probably a lil silly or goofy. its why i used to keep many of my dolls in my closet. 3 of the dolls in here belong to my daughter and i have told her to put them in her room as i have too many out already and did not need more. i guess i stopped hiding them in my closet after i moved into my own place with my kids post my husbands death a few months ago.

I love that, laugh. As if any time you date a guy is going to automatically demand you put away your toys? I'm not involved at the moment but my BMF is a guy and he actually built me a molding shelf around the room in my last place for mine so I could have a nice place to put them up for display. He's not into them himself but he's fine with my dolls around and fully supports me collecting, even gives me dolls. I don't think I could date a guy who would go there. I'd move them out of the bedroom and living room into my office maybe if he was genuinely creeped out but put them all away? I'd be telling him to leave first. It's like the pets. It's just not that negotiable.

I knew a guy once who was supposedly allergic to cats. He initially wanted to be more but I wasn't too much into that in his case so he settled for friendship. As friends he lasted about a month before I told him it was over. He started hinting that he'd like to come over more but that he couldn't because of my cats. IE, I was supposed to dump two cats that I'd had for a decade to accommodate him a man I'd not even known for a month. I think I saw him sneeze once maybe in my house as many time as he came over so I wasn't too convinced it wasn't cat dislike vs an actual allergy.

My cats hated him besides to the point where one of them peed on his shoes with him still in them. I took that as a sign and stopped seeing him. But no, I'd never give up my dolls (or my pets) for a man. I can see someone not wanting them in their face 24/7 and I can see my confining my collection to one room maybe, but get rid of all of them? No way...

I think if a prospective partner wants you to stop a hobby that is totally benign and makes you happy that person is not going to be a good partner. A partner needs to be able to accept you, weird hobby and all. However, I could see making concessions to make a partner more comfortable. Also, if you're not single you can't have a messy room?! It's sort of like saying, "Now that you have a man you need to be a good little girl and clean up after him." It seems sort of offensive really.

Well in my case he is just a buddy and he and his bf both my friends come over to play videogames.
The one was stopping by as i was off on black friday and picked up a couple things for him. The other had not seen the dolls as most were in my closet and are 1/12 scale tinies and i have been slowly moving them out into my room. along with my tonner doll and my noix/pure neemo hybrid etc. i think it was more noticeable as i have them in a manger , a manger filled with zombies and fairys and a baby but a manger none the less on my shelf. i also have my boxed dal and my volks dolfie plus. out

Hi Qrinta,

Thanks! If I had a larger house with lots of display space, I would try to count my smaller dolls. I want to put up my Barbie shopping malls (the original from the 70s? and the one from the 2000s) and set up dollies. But no room for that. All of my vintage and Silkstones are stored right now. Well, almost all. I keep one or two out. :D

I know about animals and dolls. That is why my dolls are in the cat-free zones only. resin doll + mohair wig + feisty kitty = disaster.

At least my husband shares the hobby. I like video games and the NFL and he like collecting dolls, so we are inseparable.

And yes, you are right about the Haruka figures. I measured mine and she is 6 inches. I am not sure what I saw on the packaging, but hey. They work well with dolls.

Qrinta wrote:That is an awe-inspiring collection Misheru! I think the only way I could have that many dollies is if they were all tinies. XD I collect things in phases. My largest collections would either be legos or stuffed animals as I stopped asking for dolls when I got older despite still liking them. I think after two of my barbies got eaten by the dog I was afraid to get dolls. >_> I still try to get more porcelain dolls whenever I can. Though I don't have any place to put them. Might be harder to convince people to buy me BJDs. I'm also the type that likes to make things "just so" and then put them on a shelf to look pretty. XD

I had to look up those little Haruka figures. Adorable! And 6" tall, 1/10th scale according to the site I stumbled on. Shipping is more than the doll which seems to be less than a dollar... Not sure about that one.

My current doll family...

Then you have to dust them all. I'm facing that right now.

Anyone have unique ways to display doll clothes? I've got some lovely outfits I'd love have out.

Wow there are some big collections here. Misheru, that bed of DDs and other 50-60cm dolls is so cool.
My collection is pretty small since I donated my 12+ Groovy Girls and Groovy Boys to a little girl I know. Now it's just the BJDs and a handful of plushies. I have 5+ plushies, most of which are being kept in the family. As for BJDs, I have 3 minis and two 1/6th scale tinies.

For displaying outfits I like to switch out what the mini-size display mannequin is wearing. The old Mattel Teen Trend dolls had a set that came with a closet, hangers and mannequin. They were the same size as my child mini.

Thanks, Nella. Two more were added to the family this week and I need to update the family, but not another pic for a while. That was a pickle to do.

Xiao-Mai Shiranui and Shion Uzuki - one for me and one for Highlander.

I am trying to figure out the best thing to do with my 12 and 16 inch dolls that aren't going to be kept once we go through our collections. I have been out of those markets for a while, so I am out of touch. Plus Ebay is such a hassle. Oh well, cross that bridge when I come to it. :)
