Make a catalog of all your dolls and their stuff and/or pack them up in storage bins or something for a little while.

I didn't pay attention to how many Power Team Elites I had until I was weighing them in pounds. With the Monsters it was a change in face molds that stopped me. With Barbies they have to have X amount of joints. No ball jointed dolls bigger than my Obitsu 60 (except the special prize twins). There's always exceptions but giving yourself some ground rules no matter how arbitrary can work.

Not having them with me would lead to anxiety attacks. I HAVE set ground rules. Only stuff for dolls you already have, or ones on the list. Nothing over 200 dollars CAN (preferably not over 100). Most months I'm good to keep to reasonable levels. This month... I guess I let stress get to me, or something.

I tried linking one of my adopted click pets here, but the board wouldn't let me. :/

With life being as stressful as it has been, I'd go easy on yourself right now. Try not to punish yourself too much. The world and all that's been going on has been super traumatic for everyone on Earth. I think we've all needed a little extra dollyness in our lives for these past 12 months.

I've been forcibly retraining myself from buying too much stuff for the dolls the last six . months, unless I don't think I would be able to find it again easily. Now that I have my future craft room/workshop paid for, I fear that soon my mailbox shall again be flooded with packages . . .

My anxiety hears yours. They'd be there with you. My current living situation has me in one room I can keep pet free so I have to keep a lot of things in clear storage tubs. Recently I started bagging them in preparation to do a photo catalog, put them in default outfits and put shoes and accessories etc with them, that had me handling each doll and thinking about them and helped thin things out a bit.

Or as far as about half a bin of dolls that can go but don't have to.

Thanks, guys.

I DID recently thin out the family... and I bitterly want two of those back, and I wonder if that didn't also trigger buying sprees. I wonder if having real people around would help.

Real people to do doll stuff with? Can I even remember what that's like...

Been on several sides of the no longer having a doll and missing it thing. Of the ones I had control over I occasionally miss some I sold and then I remember why I sold them and that they're making other people happy. I also regretted rerooting a Monster and only felt better when I replaced her with an untouched doll. There's been a couple that I loved to death literally, childhood dolls, and replacing it with the same face sculpt if I couldn't get the exact doll helped. One was taken from me 40 years ago and I know I'll never get her super rare self back.

Dollykim, awww. Yeah. I gave away a Natterer doll, and now they're really rare and expensive. I've gotten a 14inch doll of a different kind, and that sort of helps. The two I most recently gave away and regret, I can't find different ones I don't think. One's a kit doll printed on fabric, and the other one, that I've looked for, is a derpy little unicorn. I'm slowly replacing childhood dolls that I missed or really wanted and had never gotten, and ones from adulthood that I regretted giving.

Do you mind if I ask which doll was taken from you all those years ago?

It was Dana, Darci's African American friend.

It's not so much needing to replace her, it's more of the cluster f**k my everything was at that time of my life at that time and it being the first in a chain of when I'd get nice toys they'd end up broken or missing among other reasons I take a lot of Repressitall for. We'd know which whatever was mine because it was the broken or messed up one.

I was set up for hoarding but as it's come to purging dolls in adulthood I have been able to let them go. if that doll is just in a bin and someone else has always wanted one I can let it go. I always remind myself that we took an SUV load of McDonald's toys to their museum awhile back. They had to redesign their display space to fit it all. People come from around the world to see them.

The day I was bringing in a stray Stomper, mine are the first they had ever seen, there was a family beside themselves just to play outside and it blew the kids' minds there would be toys inside.
