1/5 "Full Action Doll Series" To Heart "Akari Kamigishi"

well, it seems that the seller of the doll in the thread above slipped up and sent me the wrong doll,
so it seems i'll just be getting them in the reverse order of which i had intended, no problem.

the seller has owed up to her mistake, refunding me slightly over shipping cost.
i'll just put that to the other doll next month.

anyway, this doll is huge, like a full 15in. or so. TSUKUDA HOBBY sure seemed to have an awful lot
of inconsistencies throughout the course of their "Full Action Doll Series" doll line.
AFAIK, most of their dolls, series regardless, were all around 12 or so inch,
certainly every one i've gotten until now. for whatever reason, they had decided to go somewhat jumbo
with this three-doll ToHeart line of theirs, scaling their body design up to a full 15in.
and including double-jointed elbows that actually facilitate a full range of movement,
something their other dolls are simply incapable of;

Akari is looking adorable!!! <3333 You know, I've noticed that the Tsukuda Hobby line seems to have size continuity issues big time concerning all of their dolls. I have Larva and Miyu from Kyuuketsuki Hime Miyu, both are pretty rare on the secondhand market (there is one Ebay seller that let go a few Larva dolls for cheap, presumably because there is little to no demand for him here in the US since the series was an nineties cult favourite amongst us "older" anime fans but never really hit the mainstream), I own two Larva dolls (one is getting his hands made over a bit because I really dislike the crappy 90's "oven mitt" look they chose for his arms, which I'm fixing with apoxie clay to hopefully make the look a bit more of a natural fade on his arms. Miyu is...well damn, she was expensive as heck and she's not very well made to boot. They're both billed as "1/6" but Larva is nearly 14'' tall and Miyu is around 12 1/2''. They look okay seperately but absolutely ridiculous posed together, which has prompted me to start customizing my own Miyu doll using Obitsu parts. A 23cm Obitsu really does wonders for the height difference portrayed in the manga.

Still, all in all the Tsukuda Hobby dolls, with all their strange and sometimes obscure animes are something I would like to collect more of. :) They're at once nostaligic, fun to see where our relatively big choices in dolls came from roots wise, and if nothing else they're pretty awesome to break apart for parts or headswaps! :lol:

yeah, some of their Sakura Wars II dolls' heads mate fairly well to a 27cm OBITSU,
such as Li Kohran here. skin tone don't match up too good, but head/body proportion is quite nice;

also, speaking of Vampire Princess Miyu, strange how all the dolls in that line seem to have molded hair,
when TSUKUDA HOBBY was so otherwise consistent with rooted hair throughout pretty much all of their
"Full Action Doll Series" line...

Li looks really good on that body! Her skin type looks to match a bit more to a Volks-esque body though (at least in this picture), have you ever thought about trying to house her on one of them? It looks like if you found a "tan" Volks body it might go with her colour better? She's such a cute character too! The adorable! I have a weakness for meganes. :3

Yeah, I've often wondered why the dolls in the Kyuuketsuki Hime Miyu line have molded hair when all the other FAS lines have regular rooted hair. Miyu I can maybe understand (yeah, I'm in the middle of trying to customize that hairstyle on my 23cm remake of her without throwing a fit), but Larva has such a standard haircut it just kind of baffles me. Then again, I guess we shouldn't be too surprised! XD These dolls are pretty old and they've made some really strange decisions. I have no idea why they decided to make Chisato when that character was pretty much reviled by all the fans of the series, and why they chose an outfit swap Miyu instead of focusing on making another character like Reiha, or perhaps Yui and Nagi or something. :roll:

yeah, she has a really sweet face♥ i actually greatly improved the look
of her glasses by taking some CD/DVD scratch remover gel
and polishing it into the lenses with a microfiber cloth.
a couple/three cycles of five minute buffing of both sides, inner and outer,
produces beautiful, realistic looking results.

also, i've noticed that the Miyu line must have been right in the midst
of TSUKUDA HOBBY's shift from the early hard plastic doll bodies
to the far better soft vinyl skinned skeletal designs used on
nearly all of their various "Full Action Doll Series" releases
made after their Sakura Wars 2 series or thereabouts.

i'm not very familiar with the characters of Vampire Princes Miyu,
but you can see from this photo that at least one of the dolls in the series
was produced with the inferior original body type;

<----Oh wow, that's a really smart idea with the glasses!!! I know a lot of 1/6 glasses tend to have that really cloudy look to them that doesn't really let the character's eyes show through.

....Woah, I had absolutely NO idea that there was more to the Miyu line than that!! I only own Miyu in her kimono and Larva. (I knew Chisato existed (the redhead) but I opted against her because I, like many, hated her character.) Is that your picture? :shock: I wouldn't even begin to know where to get the rest of them.

And yeah, the Miyu line itself is strange. Miyu (kimono version) is entirely hard-bodied, while Larva has plastic arms and legs with a soft body core (that doesn't match well skintone wise, but eh, it's not like I'm modeling the guy naked). This whole line is such a strange mix of quality! :lol:

Yeah, Chisato is......meh. Not good at all. Her character is horrible and her doll really isn't worth it. I did recently manage to get a super, SUPER rare Miyu doll by Takara that I had no idea even existed until about a week ago!

I'm pretty happy considering how incredibly rare merchandise is for this series!

If you're into horror series at all Vampire Princess Miyu is a wonderful, creepy series to watch. It's beautifully done. :D
