Remember Lammily? The reviews are in!

Anyway, looks like the Kickstarter backers finally got their dolls. Here's a couple reviews I spotted on flickr that I thought might be of interest:

As someone who is a fan of dolls with unusual body shapes, regardless of the philosophy behind them, I'm mostly disappointed by the rather bad articulation, as well as the decision to use click joints for both arms and legs. There's still some things I like about her, though I'm not sure I'd buy one. Thoughts?

I read the rewies, as I really liked to see how this doll would turn out. Sorry to hear about bad articulation - that's big flaw on doll who's supposed to be "more active than Barbie" - quoting Andi B. Goode's review.

Also, I noted one big looking problem - to me at least. She seem to has too short arms. O.o Elbow should (appoximately) come to line with navel, and her fingers should come halfway to her thigh - and based on those pictures her are way higher. It looks bad.

Other than that, she looks nice, and I like her face - even if it's bit bland. I hope good luck her on market - short arms or not - because her creators have tried something "new" in a way.

Lack of articulation is the final turn off for me, short arms are annoying, and I don't like her face.

I still don't know what niche she's trying to fill since there's action figure ladies who are more active and realistic, her play value seems kinda diminished without much articulation or affordable clothing options ($20 for a sack dress seems steep) and I can't imagine non scripted children reacting favourably to this.
And it bothers me she's supposedly based on average women but her proportions are off, her skin is smooth and pale, she has a thigh gap and flat stomach and there's only a white option.
However I'd like to customize one for the heck of it lol like my other full figured dolls (and yeah that's a liv doll with extra putty on top...):

When I saw that they were up for order a couple of weeks back, I did consider getting one. I kind of like her face, but wanted to hear reviews first. As lack of posing skills annoy me, I'd say she's off my list for now.

From what I read when they were officially put on sale, he is planning different ethnicities and body types if she sells well. So, I'm not too worried about the initial lack of diversity. It would probably be too risky from a financial standpoint to to develop multiple designs for immediate sale if you don't know if they will sell at al.

You can also purchase a sheet of "stickers" that allow you to customize her. It has things like scars, pimples, and stretch marks on it. It might seem silly to the adults or collectors who do real customization, but kids really would have fun with that. The idea was that kids could give her marks similar to their own, but it will probably end up with most kids finding ways to make her look crazy.

Currently, yes. I think there are different outfits available also.
The plans are that if the initial doll sells well enough, there are other dolls and things already in the works. If she flops miserably, it's doubtful it will go much further than her. A lot of parenting sites were gobbling up the marketing end of it, which probably means that this first one will do okay, even if not on the collecting end of things.
Maybe they will also have some of the kinks worked out when they start expanding.

Stretchmark stickers?? Ok, for me that's actually so-weird-it's-awesome, although probably not worth the postage. I doubt kids in general even know what stretchmarks are, though. Those CAM sets with stickers might be more fun.

I'd still like to see a fatter doll with good articulation, but I agree a (modified) action figure would probably be better.

The CAM sets need water to apply the stickers, they aren't reuseable, and if you look at them funny they scratch or come off. If you're careful you can make them last awhile.

Actually a lot of kids have stretch marks depending on how fast they grow and how they fill out. I had them in elementary school, but had no clue what they were.
It was the most surprising offering for Lammily, though.
