Volks USA site question

Ok, I seem to be finding two sites for Volks USA. One is here: http://www.volksusa.com/
Which seems simple enough, though sadly I will never buy from as all the 1/6 stuff seems gone.

But there's also this on Yahoo which claims to be the same company...
http://yhst-70052297082953.stores.yahoo.net/

Is this actually legit or a scam site? Does anyone know? Because if it's legit I want to snag some 1/6 dolls fast... but sadly I'm abut 90% sure it's a scam site as it only takes credit cards and the prices are really low.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure that's a scam site. For one thing, it's very out of date - the most recent news post listed is a year old. For another, a lot of the links will redirect you to the actual Volks website - including pages such as the FAQ and shipping information. Plus, the prices are unrealistic and the selection is very low.

Unfortunately, Volks discontinued their 1/6th scale dolls a few years ago. However, there are a few still in stock on the Volks International site, if you really want one.

That's actually the original Volks USA site that you've come across, it usually only pops up with Google searches anymore. It really did only take credit card and those really were the prices- but when they were liquidating their stock to close their store front and move to their new warehouse. The 1/6 Dollfies are no longer available and the site likely wouldn't actually let you order anymore.

I may have to sort out how to place an international order then... if I can scrape up the funds to do it (or convince the Evil Overlord)

Huh, that's actually kind of interesting! XD And shame I missed that event. I'd have tried to buy one of everything at that price and get it done. XD As is, I despair of ever having a full line of Volks 1/6 (I have one so far). I'm trying to convince the Evil Overlord that I'd really like at least one or preferably both of the guys for my birthday in May... I'd hate to think what international shipping is.

It's really not that expensive! It used to be, but about 2 years ago, Volks.co.jp lowered their shipping rates! If you buy just one or two dolls, it's usually about $15 shipping! And express mail so you get it in 2 days or so! :laughs:
(1/6 scale, that is.)

I buy from them all the time---if you'd like me to add an item to my order next time I place one, let me know and I'll be happy to help you out. ^^ (Plus the s/h from me to you will be only $4 or so, so that's even less than the already super reasonable $15!)

:)

Right now it's not looking like I'll be placing an order for anything any time soon. I was trying to hint to the Evil Overlord earlier about birthday presents (which is what led to site-googling in the first place), and pretty much got that I'm not getting one unless I pay for it myself. My income is limited to $45 a month to prevent messing up her income (long story), and I have to save up for a new computer desk before this one completely falls apart. It's going to be at least October IF I'm lucky before I can save for dolls again.

I found that yahoo-site too while googling different Volks body types - I assume it's an archive of the old Volks USA site, for whatever reason. It's a good reference, but I think that's it. Too bad, those closing sale prices look pretty good! (Not that I could have ordered anyway, since I'm not in the US.)

The 1/6 dolls are discontinued, but the international Volks site still has some left. In fact, I checked just now and they've restocked a few that were previously marked as out of stock! I don't know what gives, maybe they found some forgotten boxes out back. Like you I have been trying to chase down a few of the older 1/6 bodies on a limited budget, and it can be frustrating when you don't know whether things will be in stock just when you happen to have money...

Yeah, it is. Right now, I'm looking at one each of their 1/6th guys, and thinking of them as 'my xmas present if they're still there'. XD Maybe I'll be lucky for once.

Would you like a Volks discouragement from someone who has the guys and wishes they were more like their Obitsu friends?

Is it the skinny EB guys you're really wanting or a Neo Goh type?

I'm actually wanting one of each, with the EB in 'natural' color. Right now both are unavailable... but I'm still holding out holiday hope, as they say 'will be restocked' on site.

I don't really need more discouragement. The household income got cut this month by a bit over $160. (I'd actually hoped it was a typo someone made on paperwork for most of the month. $180 becomes $18? Surely that's a misplaced decimal point... but they're saying no.) That's discouragement enough. Plus, I already have one each of both Obitsu adult guys (and am a variety nut). I do hopefully plan on maybe one or two more Obitsu guys in the future, but the Volks get priority because they might not be there long (and I have Ideas).

I have one Volks girl, a really short and topheavy critter in tan skin that I got secondhand here, and has currently become the body for Denia, my little old lady doll. I'll have to admit the spring in the waist is fiddly, and I constantly worry about the wrist and ankle joints as they don't look very strong, and it was a bleep getting a barbie head on there... but I like her anyway! XD
