de-stinkifying the toxic vinyl baby

Today I found the most adorable boy baby doll at Tuesday Morning. I have a girl and have been searching for awhile for a brother. He is a Lee Middleton doll, and just a cutie.
I was real happy until I got him home and removed him from the box. That is when I was hit by the overwhelming smell of vinyl. Seriously, I had a headache within about five minutes of messing with him.I looked up the brand online and found some people saying that even after months of trying to air their dolls out that the odor is still strong.
Is there a way to help dampen the smell? I have a small house, and I don't want to spend months waiting for my toxic smelling baby to air out! There really isn't anywhere to give him space to breath while I wait it out.
Any ideas?
