Anxiety with dolls?

I have the weirdest anxiety.
I just want one doll.
I ended up buying 4. I want to sell them and keep one but I'm so anxious about selling that I don't know what to do. And I don't want to end up coming up short with selling. Should I just put them away for a while? Like wrap them up and put them into their boxes and just focuse on my one?
Help! D:
It's a bizarre reason to have anxiety but I can't help it.

Putting them away to think about it for a while can be good, but it can also make parting with them harder.
Maybe making a list about why you want to sell them vs. why you want to keep them will help?

I wish I had the same problem. :T My anxiety is about buying them. I've waffled back and forth several times about my next doll, even though I know I want one, and even have wigs on the way for her.

I agree on putting them away to think for a while. Sometimes even a week can help you make the decision. If you put them away and don't think about them at all while they're put up, I think that would make the decision easier. :)

I can really identify with you! I suffer from anxiety and depression and while my anxiety is usually socially related, I tend to get anxious about a lot of other things as well.

Different people's anxieties work differently, but if it was me, the way my anxiety works I'd have to take care of it as soon as possible so I could stop worrying about it, because I wouldn't be able to stop thinking about it till I had come to a decision and everything was taken care of.

But if you are able to put it out of your mind for a while and the money isn't an issue, and then come back to them, you could look at the dolls with new eyes and maybe make a more level headed decision.

I don't know what kind of dolls you have, but it sounds like higher end ones don't really depreciate much in value as long as you keep them in good condition?

Just a word of advice.

On very common, inexpensive dolls, you are NEVER going to be able to sell them for the same price you paid for them. This is because people will go to the website (like Junkyspot), look at their price, look at yours, and laugh. "WHAT! This girl thinks she can get the same price for a USED doll that's probably yellowed, and who knows what else she's done to it, that I would be paying for a NEW doll that has no issues from someone I trust? What's she been smoking?"

As many people on DoA have ended up deciding, they might as well either keep the doll and try mods and other things they hadn't been brave enough to try, or give it to a friend or relative who really wants a doll and can't afford one.

I agree with VV about the reselling aspect. I've resold a few dolls and on a couple I've lost money - one I traded for Soom hooves and lost half of what I paid for her (but that was my own stupidity for paying so much for her in the first place).

Right now the economy isn't good for doll resales, even for rare and sought after dolls. The MP is overflowing with people trying to sell off dolls, many to make needed cash. People just aren't buying.

Putting them away for a few months might be a good idea. As the discussion in the thread about older dolls shows - it's possible to fall back in love with them! So don't let yourself be anxious, okay? :)

Thinking again...Pleasesaveheart, you know, even though you originally decided that you only wanted one doll, after you spend some time with that one, you may find that you're interested in delving more into the doll hobby. You may even want to buy more dolls than those. So yeah, holding onto them would definitely be a good idea since you won't make all your money back anyway if you try to resell.

Wow the doll reselling market is that bad right now? I've only been reading into the biz for several weeks now, but I see so few of the dolls I like for resale ever and when I do, people are almost always asking for nearly full price. On ones I considered, original prices were around $700 and usually resold for $600 or so. Now that I already ordered new dolls though I'm trying not to look at the used marketplace and be tempted to run up my credit cards hehe.

I would definitely expect that cheaper dolls wouldn't resell well, if at all since most people would probably just buy new rather than bother putting in time and effort looking for a used one. But had no idea that the more expensive and rarer things were doing so poorly.

Probably better that I hadn't waited though... I probably would have been waiting a very long time for someone to drop their Iplehouse Asa or Bichun.

I can see the cheaper store bought dolls not selling for much, unless they are really popular like monster high or lalaloopsy or something like that. I haven't tried to sell one of my resin dolls in a couple of months, but they usually resell for what you paid for them. Unless of course, they are significantly yellowed, damaged, or stained. I'm not including the shipping I paid from the company to me however, which is fine. C: I don't think the new owner should have to pay that, it's rather silly.

I think it also depends on what doll it is that you are trying to sell also, if you have a really popular sculpt it will sell rather quickly. Or a doll from a good well known company, like Fairyland or Dollzone.

I've seen on DoA and Ebay that Obitsu have really terrible resale value, the past few months they've only gone for $120-$225ish, for the bigger ones 40cm+

Kittysaurus, the question is always what the guys on Pawn Stars ask. Are they GETTING that much or are they ASKING that much? Because you can ask for whatever you want, but I keep seeing even popular sculpts and stuff like Sooms just sitting on the MP...and sitting....and sitting. And I am also watching people dropping their prices...and dropping...and dropping.
