Weekly DQ: #19

This week's Dollieh Question from our list. (viewtopic.php?f=41&t=6677)

19. Do you have any hobby related phobias?

I'm drawing a blank on this one. I have dislikes but I won't say I really have extreme fears in this hobby. I guess I fear a little about restringing a BJD or doing a major face-up on a doll because I have never done it before.
I'm mostly on Tumblr now.

I used to be afraid of doing face ups on my resins, used to be afraid of dropping them... I thought of them like glass. xD But I now realize they're pretty durable for minor falls and such... I've added to my Mei's face up over time and feel confident to do a full resin one now.

Not really sure those are phobias though as I've gotten over them some. o-o But rather just small fears from being new to it.

I have thought of what it'd be like to travel with my dolls and that scares me... I have before, but I kept them out in the car with me, but if I had to travel in a way that I needed to pack them in like my suitcase, thaaaat scares me.

Now, one of my friends on irc is scared of my dolls. xD That I'd call a phobia.

I have a fear of lung damage, which is not really a "phobia" so much as an informed concern for my health... this is why I only use brush-on sealers. (Of course, I know myself well enough to realize that I would be too cheap/lazy to acquire/implement the proper safety gear/procedures when using a spray sealant.)
I have so many dolls that I can't fit all their names in my signature anymore. @__@

I don't know if I have any "phobias" per se, but I do worry about losing my dolls, especially Cherry. I had Megumi's first incarnation stolen from me years ago, which upset me very badly. I'd hate to have that happen again.

I'm a bit afraid of owning resin doll because of re-stringing. I don't I will be able to do it. And I heard some stories about breaking which makes me even more unsure. Also, I'm scared of doing a face-up. I'm thinking of buying a cheap doll just for trying. But I never get around doing it. ^^;

I luckily do not have a phobia related to this hobby. I have other irrational phobias (such as tomatoes and mustard), but none that have anything to do with dolls. I guess that comes from having great friends that gave me a crash course in the hobby when they got me into it. As soon as I got my first resin, I was taught to restring, now I teach other people to restring. I also learned to do face ups from Kiki on my first resin, so I learned a lot about safety as well.

I am afraid though sometimes about my obtisu Melody. She's a 60cm ball joint obitsu and she is notorious for breaking her elbow so I'm afraid of moving her arms half the time because I'm out of spare elbows (she's broken at least 3) and it costs me a lot to ship from Parabox for replacements...

My fear would be of having them stolen or lost. I was so happy that none of them were even touched when our house was broken into! I think I am most afraid of what I would do in a fire or evacuation situation. I have no idea how I would be able to carry them all!

I'm afraid of dolls with "sleep" eyes. :?
You know, those ones that close when you set the doll down on its back. I'm especially creeped out by fifties fashion dolls that have these type of eyes. I even had a nightmare involving one; it was not fun.

Well... I know how to string a doll, and yet I'm afraid to take my Iplehouse JID Ryan apart even though he DESPERATELY needs it as he can't pose for the life of him. And I'm scared to do it only because I heard that IH dolls are hard to restring. It doesn't really make sense...
