This week's Dollieh Question from our list. (
viewtopic.php?f=41&t=6677)
15. Face-ups: Company, commission, or personal. I have a few of all of them. If I don't like the company face-up I consider having a commission done.
I've done some super simple face-ups myself on Barbies and the like before.

I like doing my own face ups. I do have two defaults in my collection, and one done by Kiki-chan78 before she taught me how to do my own. It makes me feel more connected to my dolls when I paint them myself. I do admire other custom face ups, but I just love trying my own hand at them.

Personal.
My faceups are amateur but I see improvement - and I'm glad, cause I could never have a doll with a company faceup or an artist faceup. I LOVE looking at them but I wouldn't want to have one myself. I'm a bit neurotic that way. To me these dolls are all about customizing; why would I be proud of a doll I simply bought and had someone else paint..? It's the same with clothes. I'm bad at sewing but I still want to make everything myself. How else could I enjoy them if I can simply buy everything? Where's the challenge in that?

I like mixed. I only have one doll with a faceup that I've done myself, but all the custom faceups I have were done with love by my best friend or my mother who have way more artistic talent than I do, and I love them, because they understand the charactersthat I have created over the years that the dolls are shells for. A couple do have company faceups but they aren't shells for anyone, I just bought the dolls because I like them.

I prefer a mixed bunch, ideally with most of them having faceups I've done. So far two of mine have default faceups, two have faceups I did and one has a faceup from her previous owner. I'm wiping that faceup and I hope to wipe one of the default faceups.
Doing my own faceups helps me connect to the doll and to the character better. Viviana is keeping her default faceup because I love how it looks and it suits her character. I wouldn't be averse comissioning faceups but I know I wouldn't be clear enough in describing what I want. It's easier to play around and figure out faceups for myself.

All of the above!! I like doing faceups, I also like factory faceups, and I have commissioned them and I also have faceups from friends. I love them all!! For instance, I have two BBB Sprites, one is factory and one is a commission.

Personal all the way. I'm a bloody beginner and not too good with brushes, but pastel faceups work out pretty well for me. I like seeing my characters move into their shells, and I like the thought of being able to change or re-do a faceup at need.
I've seen beautiful factory and commissioned faceups at a meet yesterday, but I'd still want to paint my dolls myself, even if I had the money to commission someone or order factory faceups.

I prefer painting their face-ups myself - that way I bond with the sculpt, and (slightly more importantly) it means that I know for certain that everything has been sealed properly (at both ends of the pigment) so I'm not too precious about touching their faces when dressing/undressing etc. - I'd hate to smudge a factory face-up!

I'm such the rebel! I love a company face up. Usually I've spent so much time looking at company photos of a doll, that is how I want it to look. (At least face wise). And yet, several of my dolls have non-company face ups. But, all of them, were still done before I bought them. for some reason the idea of commissioning a head bothers me a lot.

Personal so far. Although some are factory defaults
I kinda like attempting to do my own simple faceups after I gotten my 2nd Obitsu(unsteady hands and all). It also means that I end up getting backup heads in the event I want to redo my dolls's face. Except for two of my customs, the rest are already on their 2nd head.
So unless I really like someone's else's work or the doll is meant to come in such a faceup by default.
