Russian Porcelain BJD's

Postby Calivano » Fri Apr 12, 2013 11:27 pm

So i stumbled upon this Russian BJD artist. She specializes in porcelain dolls that are absolutely stunning.

Now these dolls would be considered amongst my grail dolls, simply because they are all custom to order and I will probably never own one. I think even if I could afford one, I would be very apprehensive about buying one. I have always been nervous around porcelain dolls simply because Ive broken a few too many in the past. Amongst my earliest memories are my sister having a collection of porcelain dolls, and i used to admire them. One day i snuck into her room to look at them. I wanted to touch them, to play with them. In my curiosity I broke on of her dolls! I remember crying, not because i was afraid she would be mad at me, but because i had broken something so beautiful, something so perfect. And how shattered and heart-breakingly disgusting the broken porcelain looked on the doll. I felt like I had committed murder and i couldn't handle the guilt and sorrow I felt towards the doll. Even after we glued it, it had an ugly scar and would never be the same. No, i don't think I could own a porcelain doll. But Man, are the gorgeous! Oh, here is the link to the site, it has doll nudity.

The pictures where they're being held... just... wow. o-o This one especially http://i2.2photo.ru/f/i/366135.jpg

I like the style of them... They seem so organic.

I kind of wish they came in something besides porcelain, I'm scared of breaking something like those too. xD They seem so delicate.

Thank you for sharing them. ^^

They're lovely! I know what you mean about breaking them though... I think if I were ever to own anything porcelain at all (let alone lovely dolls like them) they'd live in a cabinet and never come out!

The dolls are definitely wonderful... but what really captivated me and made me gasp and blink was all the amazing metalwork and beading on their outfits. I'm just imagining the hours and the skill and patience invested in these. Truly full of beauty and awe-inspiring.

There are some amazing russian dolls, and these are gorgeous. I have seen dolls like this that are also made in resin, but I can't remember where... If I find it I will post it again!

I'm quite familiar with this artist and her work; she gets a lot of inspiration from the work of the artist Sulamith Wulfing.

Wow, just looked up her art. Her art is beautiful. It kind of reminds me of Frank Frazattas paintings. Although Franks pictures probably display more half naked people, both artists deserve praise. I wish I could've had Frank draw a picture of some people i know, they are some pretty inspirational people. You can google him, or check out this cool tribute to Frank Frazatta. If you have never heard of Frank, he does some amazing fantasy artwork. I bet The Legend of Zelda is based on some of his artwork. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Coj-WukTY54

Porcelain has the advantage that the faceup and body blushing are baked on and will never come off.
