A question on video tutorials.. and incomplete tutorials

General discussions about dolls, new releases, doll reviews...you know, stuff that doesn't really fit in all the other categories but is strictly about dolls.

A question on video tutorials.. and incomplete tutorials

Postby WhiteDove01s » Fri Apr 26, 2013 4:25 am

I have several projects going, and I've been recording when I work on them. None of those projects are actually finished, this is 'raw' footage (unedited) of things including my mistakes at this point. I don't plan to edit these up into neat tutorials until each project is done - which might be a while. I also probably won't be able to upload longer videos to youtube until I have highspeed, which might happen sometime in late summer or fall, but the raw vids are all in clips of about 2 minutes. It'll take about two hours to load each 'raw video' clip of what I've been doing. Normally, I would just let it go until I have a finished tutorial, but...

My attempt to add wrinkles to a barbie head with a dremel-knockoff in order to make an old Jedi woman actually turned out pretty cool. It's made me wonder if I should post raw updates of works in progress, maybe grouped under a folder for that, and then delete the raw stuff when I get the project done and put the final tutorial up. Should I do this, or would it be annoying to people to see stuff that isn't done yet?

The upload time isn't as much of a concern, even if it means I'd have to post a little piece at a time when I have to go do other things anyway. I just want to know if anyone thinks I should bother.

I wouldn't mind watching in progress projects because I have a lot myself, you might inspire someone. Just make all comments by approval only so you can monitor and answer any questions you get.

Well, the first little fragment uploaded without any issues, though it took an hour to do so. (yay, dialup) So, I guess I'll get them up - or at least the ones for Denia - maybe by the end of next week, depending on how other things go. Which probably won't make a dent as I'll make more vids in that time too. XD

Where do I go on youtube to set the comments that way? I haven't really used the site in a long while due to slow connection.

There's tabs and boxes on the upload page or you can it the edit button from your My Videos page. When there is a comment you'll get an email with the comment it's self and you can approve/deny from your You Tube inbox.

Found it, thanks! :)

The first little bit is up, the rest will come after I've caught up emails a bit. XD Well, and as I can get them up, given upload speeds. We'll hopefully be getting high speed soon... but first I need to figure out how a router box actually works so I can possibly hook it up myself. The local provider's installation fee would take a few extra months to save for...

Oh, yeah...

The first minute and a half or so, so it doesn't show a whole lot, but more will be coming. :)
