Any Figma fans out there?

Any Figma fans out there?

Postby Fallen-AngelGirl » Mon Apr 29, 2013 4:47 pm

I'm not entirely sure if threads about figmas are allowed on here, so if I'm mistaken please let me know.
So I was just wondering does anyone own any Figmas on here? If so what do you think about them?
And the dreaded question I always hear: Do you consider them dolls or action figures?
I'd love to hear peoples opinions :)

oh okay thanks :) because I wasn't sure if they count as "action figures" instead of dolls so I wanted to make sure.

Do you mean on the Dollieh Sanctuary in general or this specific subforum?

We have a subforum for 'Other toys' such as action figures/figurines but I'm sure the mods won't make a fuss over a chat topic about Figmas in the Chat section :D.

Love them! Alas I only own 3 of them - but they're amongst the best looking highly articulated figures I own in that scale range.

I consider them action figures, that amount of articulation, and sculpted hair? Action figure.

Love my Lelouch despite the fact that he's the worst poser of the 3 (a bit too much, I've had him for quite a few years, and over handled him when I 1st got him so some of his gold trim has worn away... :? ) the detailing on the Figma range is exquisite, love all of the interchangeable faces! And unlike Revoltech the joints are fairly freely moving and don't look overly chunky on the figure

... Can you tell I'm a fan?

(Was so disappointed by the Revoltech Iron Man figures I got... But I suppose I should thank them for that, it meant I decided "sod it" and got my Hot Toys Iron Man - th at I absolutely adore! Ugh and I had such high hopes for the Bandai super pose range; got a Sanji from them, he was ok, but flimsy feeling and his hair looked wrong somehow compared to the rest of him - and that overly complicated 2 torso thing...)

...Yeah I guess these little guys were my gateway drug to bjds! I got into figmas in the search for ever more accurate action figures and representations of characters that I love... I think I was deviantarting images of these guys when I stumbled across a Naruto themed bjd... and the world of Soom and Obitsus...

I've heard so many mixed answers on that from deviantart. I swear, the argument of whether they're dolls or figmas was as big to some people as "marvel or dc?" xD

I love them to death but I only have four. I used to have five but I had to sell one to help pay for my BJD

I know what you mean though by parts getting worn. I changed out the arms of my chibi kuroshitsuji Sebastian and they don't hold very well anymore :( And the jointed torsos.....*shakes head* all I have to say is that my Nozomi "snaps" in half every time I move her...

I also got into BJDs through figmas. I actually searched for anime figures on Deviantart and then found BJDs, and gosh did they seem beautiful! They're so perfectly customization. It especially gets to me when I get a figma and something, whether it be the face or hair, seems wrong and throws the feel of the entire character off.

Always better than not having none though right? It's the worst when you're a big fan of something and can never get a hold of it :( At least this way you can proudly say that you have some figmas of your own :D

I've only got one because sadly they don't do many series I'm into, and of course all the ones I do want are the ridiculously popular ones. I do live with someone with lord knows how many though!

I ended up getting some after my dolls cosplayed a few characters. Luka remains my favorite. Somehow the rest seem to end up(Kagome, Rider, Ika Musume, Kyoko and Homura) becoming the costumed mini-mes of my 1/6er except for Touma

I have some Revoltech who are actual mini-mes (Ryu, Chun Li, Terry Bogard and Big Boss) of the dolls, exccept for my Tachikoma.

They all double as toys for my dolls when I'm not fiddling with them. Prefer 1/6, less likely to end up breaking parts. I consider them to be action figures since they're mainly to scale and almost similar to my SOTA Street Fighters in the molded hair and clothing department.
