Weekly DQ: #32

Postby Gift_in_Edge » Sat May 11, 2013 1:03 pm

This week's Dollieh Question from our list. (viewtopic.php?f=41&t=6677)

32. Is there anything you wish more doll companies would have, do, or change?

I would like more shopping events, like if you spend xyz during a certain time you'll get a gift or discount. Nothing big necessarily something like a pair of free eyes or a simple wig.

On another note this is the last of the list and it is now complete! But don't worry. Next week I have a special send off DQ planned. Just a reminder anyone is welcome to start their own list or project that they would like the forum to participate in.
I'm mostly on Tumblr now.

Heh. As the opposite of what you said, I sort of wish Fairyland would have LESS events. You spend xx amount of money and get a free head or faceplate or something like that, a different one for whatever amount you spend. Once or twice a year is great, but they seem to be holding these ALL. THE. TIME. Like nearly every time a new doll is released or something. It gets a little overwhelming, and it's really confusing now to keep track of what head was released when and which body it was released for and ... gah! Like, I got a Juri head off the DOA MP (thank GOODNESS for the MP), only I have yet to figure out if he was released for the new F60 line or for a certain fullset of the F65 line or what. He's designed to fit on both bodies, but which one he was actually released WITH remains a mystery to me.

I also wish more companies would have free shipping. Like, spend $300 and get free shipping. Dollmore does that, although they recently raised it to $500. I've found it's WAY too easy to spend $300 on just stuff like clothes and wigs and such. Perhaps they're trying to get more people to buy actual dolls to get the shipping.

You know what, doll companies already do so much more than they did when I first got into the hobby. Like Stormlight, I would actually like to see the number of events decrease. Once or twice a year is plenty I find. As much as we wish it were true, we don't have unlimited funds.

I would like for companies to have pictures of the blank headmolds on the listing. Some companies already do this and I find it so helpful.

1. I would have said I'd wish to see more variety in body types but that's already happening.

2. I like lots of events, since not everyone can catch them when they happen. It's good to have more frequent event opportunities to help catch more customers when they are able to buy.

3. Better photographs. Most companies try to hard to have these goofy, artsy poses but it doesn't show the doll. Take their blasted clothes off so I can see the sculpt. I'll second the face without face-up pictures too.

4. It would be cool if more resin companies offered chest plate options for ladies so you could size the breasts up or down as you please.

That's all I've got right now.

Yey! This is my question.. :P

1. I wish there was just normal pictures of dolls from companies.. not ones that have been photoshopped to the point where they don't even look like the real dolls. I also have to agree, more blank headshots.

2. I wish there were more mature 1/4 scale dolls. There's more and more companies coming out with them all the time, way more than when I started for sure, but I would love for their to be more.

3. Mature clothing for 1/4 scale dolls. They're hard to come by.

Great question!

First and foremost I'd like these companies to start using the UV Stable resin formulas to solve the colorshift issue. Its just silly that they don't just to save a few pennies a doll- which don't make the dolls cheaper for the collector anyway.

Secondly I would like to see MORE OPTIONAL PARTS for the Fairyland dolls and other companies dolls that have faceplates and magnetic hands and feet. MORE hand options for Realpuki for goodness sake! More shoes, feet, and accesories options for all the dolls and how about a second body option for the Pukipuki's. And while I am on Pukipuki, its still a very popular line, but they rarely develop anything new for them now. The Nanuri faceplate for the recent event was the first in an age. When they do intro new basic dolls they tend to all look alot alike now. Kanu and Rory look alot alike for example. Give us MORE expression. Thats why Pongpong is still so popular. The whole attraction for the magnetic face and hands and feet thing is the ability to switch out and change them--give us more options. Maybe I don't want a complete doll with every face. Or Maybe I'd like extra face experssions for each chracter - like Cupi, Cupid2 ect. Give me a crying cupid or an eating Pong Pong or a face that is spitting.

I also agree with the idea Trethowan suggested about the chest plates for the larger dolls. THAT would be amazing! I don't care for the silicone implant look and hate when I see a doll I want but there is only one body style available. Chest plates would solve that for me!

I wish more companies kept dolls in stock. Not EVERY doll they have, of course, but maybe a few of the more popular sculpts, blank or with face up. Maybe that's an unrealistic expectation, but...

Totally agree. It's really hard to determine what the dolls look like under all the custom faceup/wigs/accessories in artsy lighting. The pictures are nice for sure, but not for buyers...and personally, more blank heads WITH eyes...I feel like when it's just a blank head I can't really determine what the face looks like very well. Maybe it's just me.

No, I'm the same way. I'd like to see with and without the eyes actually, maybe even different size eyes but that could be going overboard. LOL

Uh..... I wish Doll Leaves would make less-ugly hands, does that count?
I have so many dolls that I can't fit all their names in my signature anymore. @__@
