Help Looking for Ms. Right

Postby Kirahfaye » Fri May 24, 2013 10:41 am

I'm in a quandary looking for the right doll for my original character (my namesake). She needs to have a slender body, like Mini-Fees, however she also needs a more realistic facial sculpt than MNF have (her partner will be the new Iplehouse Owen). IH girls are just too ... big boned to work so I have to look elsewhere.

Since I'm familiar with MNF bodies (both the pros and the cons), I feel comfortable going that route, but what other doll manufacturers match their resin while still having a more mature look? I've been eying Angell Studio's Amy as an alternative, but she's still not quite as slender as I want. I can get her head through MoC, though. Does anyone know if the resin color is similar to MNFs? I was also looking at Doll-Love's Evol (my daughter has a D-L Yosd), but their skin tone seems to fall in between FL's normal and beauty white.

I'm not opposed to a maker other than Fairyland for a full doll as long as it's also a slender doll with mature curves and facial features so please do give some suggestions.

Dunno about color match but have you tried Limhwa MSD girls? They are beautifully sculpted, pose pretty well, and have realistic features. Now, they are a bit larger than minifee. My Sujan has a bigger bust and hips than my minifee girl, so clothes are a bit tighter on her. Also, her heel feet are difficult to find shoes for (she fits Tonner American Model shoes well, though), but she also comes with flat feet. I THINK she can fit minifee shoes (haven't actually tried her flat feet, though).

Junkyspot has some Sujans and Ledas in stock right now. No waiting months to get one! http://www.junkyspot.com/limhwa44.html

Have you looked at Orientdolls? I have a vampire Il and he looks a lot like your picture. It would take nothing to sand off what there is of the fangs. They're very tiny 1/4s at 40cm like Tonner type fashion dolls, and they fit their clothes.

Some Dreaming Doll sculpts are pretty mature. Aquarius Doll could be another option.
At Home: Lettice (RS Rong), Avery (PD Tara), Sebastian (RS Wu), Titiana (RS Li), Patrick (RS Mai), Vivica (DDoll Airi), Brody (DZ Hid), Fyodor (DDoll Hiro), Landon (WD HOE Juwel), Khoshekh (Oleum's Dolls)

I have looked at the Limhwa MSD, a friend has one. My problem with them is the odd fingertip and nail shape. I really don't want to mod if at all possible and I've had so many dolls that were difficult to find clothing and shoes for (like the To You Sara) that I'd rather stick with a MNF or standard MSD body if it came to it....

I'll take a look at the Orientdoll, though. I am considering the new Souldoll Yeon-Bee although, again, she's not quite as slender as I'd like. (I'd have to get them to make the eyebrows less tragic ....)

Do NOT go for Angell-Studio. They have huge heads compared to Iplehouse boys. In fact, from my experience, only the smaller-headed girls look good next to IH boys. Like Narae, Unoa, Minifee. Withdoll is an option indeed, their heads are tiny and they look very mature. Perhaps Sseiren is an option too, their heads are on the small side as well, but there's not much choice with them in MSDs (only one girl lol, Olivia). Ringdoll could also work.

I have no idea of what dolls to suggest. I only have one tiny Puki Puki at the moment with another RS Ju in layaway. I wish you the best of luck in finding one that you will like.

Evelien, I did notice that the Angell Studio Amy head was about 5mm bigger than Owen's .... good to know!

I couldn't find Orientdolls anywhere (though I didn't try the MP) and the only Dreaming Doll I'd consider is the same one my daughter has wanted for one of her characters for a while now so that's out. Withdolls are pretty, but none of them spoke to me....

I'd snap up a Narae in a heartbeat if I could (though I'd rather not have French Resin), but they are few and far between and usually expensive. I'm not sure about Unoa's at this point (most of the ones I've seen are young looking).

Well, it's not like I have money burning a hole in my pocket right now, so I have time. I'd appreciate more suggestions - especially more manufacturers I'm not familiar with! :D
