Suddenly wanting a doll you didn't want before

Has anyone else ever done this before?
I had recently made up my mind what my next doll would be. All fine and dandy, but every single time I try to picture him in my mind he turns into BBB Apollo.
The really weird thing is that I have never had even the remotest interest in him. I've seen some nice ones, but he's never been what I wanted. He's certainly not on my list. Or so I thought, but now I'm not so certain. It's like some part of my brain has decided that I'm wrong and I should get him instead.
I can't picture the one I was going to get anymore at all. I can picture his company photos, but nothing past that. My imagination has completely pushed him out of the way for no logical reason.
So, has anyone else had this happen before? Have you ever bought a doll you never thought you would want? If so, were you happy with your change of mind, or would you have been better going with your first gut instinct?

This happened with my Doll Chateau Bella. I liked the slight oddness of her body, but that same oddness, plus her sulky face, put me off actually wanting her. Then I got a Hujoo Chicaloco - as soon as I saw her pics I knew exactly who she was, and that she would need a female partner, what with being lesbian and all. I'd been maybe thinking of another Hujoo - Sara, possibly; or maybe a Resinsoul Ian for that. But once I'd got her the only doll I could picture with her was Doll Chateau Bella. In white, which was even more surprising, as I've had white dolls before and eventually sold them because the white was too lifeless. And then one popped up as in stock on Angelesque so I bought her, and I do not regret it one little bit.

LOLS!! All the time - I didn't want a Goodreau, then one of them decided she belonged at my house and was another dolls' daughter. I didn't like big head dolls (Monster High) so now I own five. Sneaky dolls, they pop into our brains and take over and tell us what to do! I love how something you didn't think you wanted can inspire you to such creativity. It makes the doll that much more fun to get!

Oh that happens to me all the time too. Just on Friday I was talking to a doll friend about how Bluefairy dolls don't match with my Minifees and now I want one XD.

I have this problem on a regular basis. I think I find the perfect sculpt. Then I look some more because I hate making decisions and see other great sculpts. I was set on Dollzone Alpha and shoyo. Then I fell in love with iplehouse and got the Leona sculpt. Now I want an iplehouse for my two boys but can't make up my mind. XD
And for some reason I really want a Dollzone yue now even though I never gave him a thought before.
MH dolls I was just going to get Frankie, now I have 6 with 5 on the way and I'm probably going to want the whole cast. <_< I can really get caught up in impulse buying now and then, especially if the price is right.

Lol! Okay, good. I'm not crazy then. And it seems it does work out.
The first one I wanted has finally reappeared in my imagination, but he has a completely different look now. I have no clue who he is but I think he will be coming home also. Now it's a question of who comes first!

I get the same thing sometimes, where I've decided to buy a certain doll, only to realize at the last minute that the doll I actually see myself taking out of the bag when I get home is the one I had decided I
definitely didn't want. Then I'll listen to my gut feeling and buy the doll I actually want, and I don't think I've ever regretted it (it's one of the reasons I only collect playline dolls).
Or I'll see a doll line and immediately hate it, then decide I should have one because they're just so
wrong... and then I end up with a whole bunch and love them completely unironically.

Hmmmm... Yeah, sorta. The Doll Chateau dolls are unique but their proportions - big bottoms and really skinny tops & arms & legs - always threw me off of actually wanting to get one. Until I realized that a white-skinned, MSD-sized girl would be nearly perfect for a character of mine, who is supposed to sort of a ghost/spirit and is very thin and wears tattered clothes and such. The only doll that would be MORE perfect would be one cast in translucent resin, since Jinx is supposed to be see-through. So, there's a chance one will come home some day to become Jinx. She's way, waaaay down on the list, but I've already got the Shadow King and Gabriella, and Jinx plays a pretty major role in the novel so it's only right that she becomes dollified, too. Besides, she's probably one of my favorite characters I've created. It'd be fun to have her around, creating mischief and mayhem among the gang. Although I'm sure Gabby would heartily disagree.
