So I was looking at the Barbie Collector site trying to ID a doll and looked at their dolls of the world collections. It got me thinking. What type of dolls do other countries and cultures have.

Can you quess the dolls' country?

Oh, that is priceless, K2-san!!! I ABSOLUTELY love your response! It's perfect!!! THe town/city names are just too good!!! ^^

#1 is pretty sure from the USA----I know in Little House, they were making 'Corn husk' dolls and she looks exactly what they described in the book. ^^

#3 are Russian nesting dolls, I think. Those are so pretty!!

I agree with K2-san that #2 is from South America somewhere but I've no idea about #4....Egyptian or Mediterranean, maybe? (Just a guess looking at her 'dress.')

#1 American corn husk doll. #2 Is it a Masai? #3 Russia #4 I can't exactly name the country but I think it's African Muslim. They don't allow the human form so they make faceless paddle like baby dolls with beads for hair.

Everyone had some great guesses!

Here's the answers:
1. A corn husk doll, a Native American toy.
2. This beaded doll was made by the Ntwana people from South Africa.
3. A matryoshka doll also known as Russian nesting/nested doll.
4. A paddle doll typical of those found in most Middle Kingdom, Egypt, XI Dynasty (2080 - 1990 BC) tombs of Thebes.
