No more Invitations to Den of Angels

No more Invitations to Den of Angels

Postby Greyhaunt » Sun Nov 10, 2013 7:24 pm

Yes, you've read the title of this thread correctly.

This is not a step I wanted to take, because I didn't mind helping out other members to get signed up there. But lately it seems that people are ONLY signing up here in order to get an invite there.

I mean, two weeks ago someone actually asked me to delete their account here - which consisted of a mere 6 posts - because now that they had a DoA account they didn't have time for two forums. Really? Give me a break, I know people here who are in probably a half dozen forums, not just one or two.

Won't lie - it made me angry, and it made me sad. So as of today there will no longer be invitations issued for Den of Angels by myself, nor will I provide the names of any other members willing to issue them.

Sorry, but Dollieh Sanctuary is not a feeder forum for DoA. One of the mods takes the time here to ensure each person who signs up is not a spammer by doing online research on ISP numbers, etc... Their time is being wasted by this new practice. I certainly understand that DoA is the big kid on the block - the club most BJD collectors want to be part of, and their "invite only" policy kinda sucks (although I bet it cuts their spamming way down), but it isn't fair to this community or right for me to allow it to be used any longer.

Maybe if someone signs on here and actually participates for a while - becomes a part of our community, not just a minimum-post-for-the-prize type I'll consider giving out a DoA invite - but as too often happens in this world, one person has now ruined it for the rest.

I absolutely agree, hon. For one thing, it's no hardship to belong to more than one forum. I belong to probably about twenty or thirty myself, though I can't say I'm active on all of them. For another, it is the HEIGHT of rudeness to join a forum specifically to get an invite to another. I just got an invite request from someone who NEVER EVEN BOTHERED TO POST HERE. At all. Post count zero.

Needless to say, I ignored the request.

Incidentally, I promise you that I post here a LOT more often than I post over at DoA.

Considering I just now got my third request in 2 weeks to help someone get membership on DOA, I agree completely. Apparently there must be some talk going around that says DS is an easy road to travel to DOA.

And if the person who asked me today is really interested in being a member of THIS forum, then by all means, make an effort to add some meaningful posts here first. You probably have some good input, but right now you haven't even made an attempt, which could cause someone to wonder how many people you sent PMs to here hoping for just one to respond - as Embryquinn pretty much confirmed.

it's a great idea. it would be diffrent if DH and DOA were, like, sister-forums or something. but they aren't, so it's really rude to just mooch invites here.

also...

Seriously? If you are one of the people that only signed on here to get an invite to DoA, don't bother asking me for an invite. You won't get one.

I definitely agree. Dollieh Sanctuary is a completely different forum and should be enjoyed by its members as such, not to be used as a resource to get into DoA. Even though I am new, I quite like this forum, and I think it's a shame that some members are being harrassed for invites -_-; Hopefully this new policy will keep that to a minimum.

Sad day. Not entirely surprised but I'm sorry this happened. Especially that members were getting spammed for invites. Not fun.

It's basically what they're doing. So lame.

You have to use your membership privileges for their full entertainment value. If they'll "be your best friend" to get an invite milk it for all you can get. Make them do your taxes or mine for coal or something.

Use proper grammar and spelling with your request!
