You know you're obsessed when...

Postby embyquinn » Sun Apr 06, 2014 1:39 am

I'll admit it, I'm a little overinvolved with my dolls, especially Cherry. I took her to work with me my first day of nesting, and she won a lot of people over, and my trainer said I could bring her every day because she loves to see the outfits I've made.

Today one of the other trainees called Cherry "butt ugly" because she didn't like her wig.

I laughed it off...on the outside.

On the inside I was all

Am I just weird, or is anybody else as defensive as I am about their dolls? I know Riri's a hunk of plastic but I can't stand to have her insulted.

I feel you there. Some people just don't get the doll thing. For us its like we build up a character, work on their clothes shoot them and etc. Its an expression of our creativity or something to destress to after work. Some folks just sees the dolls as either a waste of time or just a thing to collect because its pretty.

Some people just think right of the bat that all I have are violent dolls because of their fighter/warrior/assassin background. They don't get kung fu/ movie /wire stunts/dance that started me off. I just stop explaining stuff to people who just want to find fault with things or want things to be as how they see it.

Keep having fun with Cherry.

I'd say the weird one is your co-worker. Was she raised with pigs? Has she NO manners at all or is she just naturally obnoxious? I'd say her opinion isn't even worth your time considering. Too bad it's too late for a comeback like "Well, I guess it's a good thing your opinion doesn't matter for anything."

Seriously, well adjusted people, who care about others, don't make rude, thoughtless comments regardless of how they feel about a subject. I don't care for spiders, but I certainly wouldn't made that kind of nasty comment to someone who had pet arachnids. It's just plain mean.

Yeah sometimes I am, but then I get over it quickly. It's more like...Certain things. Like my mom and I one day wanna have SD's of Sherlock and Watson and it's been agreed they'll be under shared custody. They'll probably be more so mom's boys then mine. ;)

You can't fix stupid-The new trainee. Richi has her own office in my classroom. Most of my students adore Richi. They bring their final projects from Geometry, a toothpick bridge, to have her stand on the bridges for pictures. One of the boys is a "Dolls are Creepy" Creeper. It is all I can do not to assign her to the desk next to his and set up her desk and laptop so she can work. Considering how little work I get from him, Richi would probably finish the class first-even without my help. :D

No one can stop me from loving my dolls, especially my pet Cherry. Have no fears on that.

Well, I am a little weird, but I embrace my differences. If we were all exactly the same the world would be no fun at all.

Yeah, the trainee who made the comment is pretty pig-mean. She's insulted me on occasion, but in such a way that I can't respond to it. I don't care what she says really, but I guess I'm pretty defensive about Cherry. Still, all the other trainees in my pod agree she's pretty much a vicious backbiting little bitch anyway, so. That makes me feel better.

Heh! That sounds pretty good actually. Someday I plan to make dolls of Sebastian and Ciel from Black Butler and Barb and I will have a similar "shared custody" arrangement.

That sounds so cool! I want to make Riri a little workstation that will sit on top of my desk. Since I have the next two days off I might start working on that...*gets glue gun*

LOL! Thank you for your creative cutdown. And thank you for your praise for my girl. I think she's pretty too.

You guys are the greatest, seriously. Group hug? {{{{{^.^}}}}}

This is a TRAINEE?! With known attitude problems? Wow, she doesn't care if she keeps her potential job, does she?

And sorry for the rant, but I cannot abide inconsideration, especially when it's intentional. We all are inconsiderate sometimes, but nastiness is never acceptable behavior.

You know, I feel that people (even those usually polite) have an easy time insulting dolls. I think it's just the pop culture around them; adults and dolls = horror movies, or weird kinky stuff. So, I feel like they jump to fear and repulsion. Like, I've shown my Hujoo Berry to friends and family, and honestly she was just an experiment.. she does look like a little troll, with that huge head and eyes x'D but its something that grows on you, I guess. Most of people who've seen her go THAT'S CREEPY MAKE IT STOP LOOKING AT ME.

x'D But I don't get upset, even though they ignored all the work I put into trying to make her look cute.

I guess, in that person you're talking about, they're not too well-mannered to begin with. But I wouldn't let initial comments bug you from anyone, whether they're nice or mean. Society hasn't prepared them to look into an inanimate object and see the life that we see, y'know? Everyone's gotta unlearn things, and in their case, its their fear/repulsion of dolls ;)
