Final Fantasy VII characters - Obitsu White or Natural skin?

Postby ~TurkishDelight~ » Thu Mar 12, 2015 12:59 pm

Heya, I'd like to know everyone's opinion on which Obitsu skin color I should use for Final Fantasy VII character dolls. I want to start a big collection of them, but I don't want to buy a bunch of heads and bodies in one color, then decide the other color was actually better for them. :?

It's hard for me to decide because their skin looks different depending on the lighting in the movies. I'm basing my decision on their highest resolution models, the ones used for Advent Children and in-game movies. Sorry for no pics, but they look so different in all of them. If you could Google or check YouTube, I sure could use your opinion. White skin or Natural skin Obitsu? I'd like to hear the fans' opinions. Non-fans are also welcome to comment! (^-^)v

HI~

Whenever I make them on commission, I always use NS skintone---the WS is too light for most of the characters. Maybe WS for Aerith, but even I'd use NS for her, too.

Hoever, whichever skintone you choose will work out, I'm sure.

Thank you so much Setsuna, I knew I could count on your expert opinion. ^^

I guess one of the reasons I feel confused (besides the lighting in the movies) is because some of the official FF figures I have have such light skin, while others are much darker. Even if they are from the same set. The Play Arts Kadaj for example, has skin actually lighter than Obitsu WS. The Play Arts Reno's face and chest look like Obitsu NS, but his hands look like Obitsu WS.

Or even if they are the same character, but different dolls, the skin color is different. Like I said, Play Arts Reno's face is NS, but the FFVII Potion Trading Arts Mini Reno is WS (Rude's is NS), and Reno's FF Trading Rubber Strap is also WS.

So the figure colors are confusing, and the movies are confusing because they keep looking so different, or not quite either color. I wasn't sure if NS was too pink for them, since they have more of a golden tint than a pink one sometimes. And I want my Reno & Rude to contrast nicely. I used Obitsu Realistic Male for Rude.

Thank you a lot for helping me though. Really. ^^ I have a problem where I can't make decisions (seriously) and to make it worse I'm a perfectionist. :oops: My sister said NS too, but I wanted to make sure she didn't just say a random one to make me be quiet. ^^;

I personally prefer WS for mine. (Although I've only made Sephiroth.)
I have so many dolls that I can't fit all their names in my signature anymore. @__@

Thanks, Lamia. ^^ I like WS too, but I was thinking that if I decided any Volks Neo-Goh heads might suit a character's face best, there would be a problem, since Neo-Goh doesn't come in WS, only NS and Guy color (which looks like Obitsu Realistic color). I wonder if I could make everyone with only Obitsu heads, or if I should use Volks too. I guess I need to do some planning about which heads and more thinking about the skin colors. I still can't really decide which one. :?

Edit: (so I don't double-post)
What do you guys think about Square Enix's skin color for their FFVII dolls? Do they look more like WS or NS to you? Just Googling, most look pretty pale to me. The 1/4 scale Cloud and Sephiroth (FF Masterpiece Arts) should be a big deal about accuracy, and also the newest line of FFVII Play Arts figures, right? Does anyone have them (or any other FF dolls) to compare to Obitsu NS and WS?

Actually, I forgot I have a pair of Volks Boyfriend dolls that someone (I forget who I bought them from  ) made into Reno and Rude from FFVII. One is in NS and the other is Guy color and I think they look close to the skintone difference that was in the game... or close enough, anyway.

I have the Play Arts Sephiroth figures (Advent Children version and Kindgom Hearts version) but I'm not sure how the skintone compares to Obitsu and Volks. (Actually, I think I have a picture with Sephiroth, Reno, and Rude all in the same shot, but I'll have to dig through my image files to find it...

Not sure how well you can compare the skintones there, but there it is.

Thank you for the picture Lamia. Your Sephiroth's face looks paler than your Reno's face to me. It seems like Square Enix makes their FF figures with pale skin, so I guess they think they're closer to WS? Hmm, I wish I could see the Advent Children models without the cloudy day, sunset, and night lighting they always have.
