A Serendipitous Find...

Postby Studio 126 » Sun Jul 30, 2017 7:37 pm

I have stopped actively looking for [dolls] because I usually cannot say no to just one more. But while I was delivering papers to a laundromat yesterday, I noticed that there were toys made available to their patron's kids. In that pile, there were a handful of Barbies in bad condition. Out of curiosity, I decided to see what sculpts they had. It was then that I noticed an AA Barbie with an unusual head sculpt. It had a 1982 Spanish sculpt. (The reason that I knew this is because I had recently added it to my "want" list.)

This lady had a broken neck joint and was destined for the trash heap, but I didn't want to take it without securing proper permission. I waited a while for the owners to return, but they did not, so I left a note stating my interest. Today, they said (on the phone) that I could have it, but that they won't be in until tomorrow.

To my recollection, I don't think that I have ever scored a HTF head before when I wasn't even looking for one! :geek:

Is that the same mold used for Christy dolls in the 80s? I had a couple of them back in the day.

Here she is. (I'll add more as I develop her.)
