Okay. But why would you want to spend hours scrubbing to get the whole thing off when you can use acetone in two seconds?

These dolls' heads are made of flexible PVC, not vinyl. If they're the same thing then ignore me.

Oh, I didn't know that! Sorry! :o

*shrug* All I can say is, I took off face paint of a barbie with nail polish remover that had acetone and it worked fine, even if the recommended one for removing barbie paint if nail polish remover without acetone. So, go figure?

I would say that if you used nail polish remover and it worked well, pls let ppl know which brand you used and on which doll. Different nail polish removers have different ingredients and will react differently to different types of plastic.

Yes in general it is a good idea to stay away from acetone. However for certain jobs, acetone will do the job better than anything else.

I haven't personally used acetone but I would try it out if I had a doll I wanted to wipe and reface.

I really, really don't feel comfortable with acetone.

http://www.squidoo.com/Repaint-a-doll

On the section about removing factory paint, it says that most artists use straight acetone and then wash with baking soda and water afterwards. Well, I didn't do any of the baking soda stuff but my fail barbie repaint doesn't seem to have any issues, but then again that may be because I didn't repaint it too long ago. I'll tell what I used when I find the thing (didn't put it back where I found it, XP)

Well, you did say you used nail polish remover without acetone. I tend to use the straight acetone stuff. Also, was the remover fragrances or coloured? Cuz those also stain and you should aim for clear coloured removers.
