Who the heck?

Postby Greyhaunt » Thu May 27, 2010 10:01 pm

So, while in Fresno I tripped across this strange little store called "Kevin's 99cent Plus". They had everything from bedsheets to live fishing bait in this place! But my fav find was among the dolls. Sure, there were the usual cheapass dollar dolliehs, but there were also these two gems:

My Style is obviously a My Scene ripoff. I bought her because I liked the outfit, so of course I promptly took her out of the box and stripped her. The entertaining moment was when I went to pull her right shoe off and her entire right leg came with it  Seems the hip nob was broken - shades of my childhood whenI used to snap that on my barbies trying to get them to ride my breyer horses LOL.

Now the Zodiac Girl I bought because hey, how often do I find my own star sign in a doll??? Mind you I'll probably end up opening the box and stripping her too - but for now I keep her intact for the LOLs. For the record - they only had 1 other zodiac sign in stock: Taurus.

My birthday falls on Taurus and Gemini. But I've always thought of myself as a Gemini because the first zodiac I read said I was Gemini. But now I look and some say Gemini others Taurus.

Don't ya love the cheap-o dolls? Lol. I know I do! They are great for de-clothing.

Both gals have lovely jackets
lols. Gotta go check out my flea market, but the muggable dolls never have stuff in colors my dolls would wear and there's always a ton of of sparkly dresses

What's that reddish brown thingy between the sunglasses and handbag of the my style gal?

Great find!

I spent $10 on a Moxie doll yesterday just because I liked the outfit and loved the "rag doll" accessory - only to discover the outfit was a one piece jumpsuit that wouldn't pull on past my mini-Renee's rather ample hips! LOL!

The Zodiac Girl came out around the same time Bratz first did at Kay Bee Toys, I have a Scorpio somewhere. So if you're in to that thing there's a set of 12, one supposes you're supposed to buy 2 for Gemini, and some outfits, nothing to really write home about. My Teen Skippers fit a couple of her things, I know I still have her somewhere just can't think what I did with most of her stuff unless the Bratz have it.

Moxie is the Bratz replacement, nice to know about the outfits, if I buy one it'll be most likely to get stuff for my Dr Forman hybrid.

I think the Moxie girls are prettier than Bratz and certainly less controversially sexy. Her hair is fabulous - wish it was a wig! LOL! I tried it on my daughter's 27cm Obitsu body last night and couldn't even get it past her hips (it would have been too short for her and Renee anyway)! Maybe it will fit the 23cm body I ordered from JS.

The reddish brown thingy is a combination comb/brush shaped like a fancy goldfish :? All in all she was worth it for the accessories, even if her leg did fall off LOL.

I bought a Moxy girl too - the one I got came with a laptop which was my motivation. Her outfit is a 2 piece though - she has a bubble style top and jeans. I'm probably going to mug the clothing and dump the doll in my goodwill bin ;p

My Eloise fits some 2 part Bratz clothes, their bodies are much shorter and skinnier than the customs though. I've had some great luck with clothes for Barbie's sister Stacy, much cuter little girl clothes and you can probably get used lots on Ebay.

I've seen the MyScene ripoff in kid's furniture stores and the kind of stores that cary questionable Engrish knock-offs with Spider-Man and Batman in the same package, you know the kind of lead based toys place I'm talking about where you want to pay with cash only. Never bought any because I'm worried about quality and you never know where the money for pirate products goes.
