Tape? or glue?

Postby Opalwhisker » Mon Mar 26, 2012 5:49 pm

I just got my pipos charlotte, my first ever (squee) BJD! but a charlotte has a tail that is attached by a magnet you have to tape onto her back. I've yet to find tape in my house that stands up to the powerful magnet and doesn't yank the tape and the magnet off the back when i try to attach the tail. I'm considering gluing the magnet on with white glue, but i don't want to damage the resin or leave the magnet of there permanently. The pipos website tutorial used tape, but it doesn't say what type of tape they used. but anyways... anyone have any idea on how to attach this tail? :U

EDIT: I have pictures!!!

I would say hot glue because you're supposed to be able to, if you want to remove the glue, freeze the parts and chip it off. But I am not a resin expert soooo, maybe not? Idk, someone more experienced can tell you when they find this. >_>

if you want it removable, why not put the magnet in a simple strip-belt under her clothing? if its t-shirt cotton it will be pretty thin but strong enough to hold, and you can either tie or stitch it on, and when you decide not to use it any more just cut it off her body. make sure the polarity you need is against the thinnest layer of fabric if you can, the more layers between the magnets can effect the strength depending on the magnet type.
kinda like this cruddy 30second mspaint doodle:

stick magnet in middle, fold over fabric, and stitch closed close to the magnet to keep it from wandering off. then just do whatever to the ends. heh.

Monster tape. Will hold you to a surface if you want it to but peels off when you don't...

I haven't used it but I'd think hot glue could easily be taken off. I haven't had much problems with the sueding I did on my girl. Ive taken out bits by my finger nails before.

I got a giant smile looking at your cat in the background. XD You have such pretty girls.

I. LOVE. the cat in the background. It's completely stealing the spotlight from your Charlotte. Haha! Your Charlotte is beautiful by the way, congratulations <3
