Actually according to Disney Belle is supposed to have hazel eyes and hazel eyes can look brown or green or even blue according to what the person wears and whatever lighting they are in. They are actually more a mix of brown and green than not. My Mom had hazel eyes. Mine came out very green but hers often looked any of the colors that made them up. I have several Belle dolls and most of them have mostly green with a bit of brown variegated eyes or mostly green eyes in the case of the glass Belle. I have one Belle with eyes that originally had eyes that looked more brown than green but she wasn't made by Disney only authorized by them. She was a Madame Alex character fashion doll, a one time limited series kind of thing.
In the end I took her hair completely down and changed her eyes to deep blue to make a character that was completely different from Belle but more related to Alex Fairchild Ford and Sienna Evans the character who her sculpt was originally used for. I still want to get a blond Sienna someday so I made her Sienna's sister Sedona. I did the same thing with Snow White. She has the sculpt usually given to Amanda Fairchild Alex's aunt so I turned her into Katherine Fairchild a cousin on the Fairchild side of the family.
Honestly I didn't think those sculpts worked at all well for the Disney princesses they were supposed to be portraying and most of the coloring was way off actually, hair and eyes both in the case of the Belle doll. But we got them so cheap it was worth doing the makeovers.
I did the same thing with 2 of the Desperate Housewives dolls. Made them into people in Alex's world.
Here is that Belle. The pic is small but you can kind of see her eyes are brown rather than hazel or green as they are usually portrayed. Sienna looks absolutely nothing like Disney's Belle though. The dress is really well made, much, much nicer than it looks but it's also fairly inaccurate for the character. It's yellow, made of heavy satin and chiffon. It looks like a ballgown but that's about it. No roses? I thought that was really odd. Every Belle doll I own save one came with a yellow dress with roses on it. (Christmas Jewel Belle has a cranberry-rose colored glitter gown.) I actually am working on turning the MA one into a somewhat Blonds inspired evening gown with the crystals and glass beads and all.
I've removed all the flouncy chiffon stuff. Underneath all that flounce is a rather chic bodice with thin yellow straps. I have some Swarovski crystals, sequins, and glass seed beads that are in various shades of green and gold that work very well with this yellow and I'm beading the bodice all by hand. Maybe adding a sheer over skirt of this wonderful net I have that's all in autumn colors including gold. I haven't decided on that as yet. It might be too much when I am all done with the top but maybe not. I'll have to wait and see. I think the basic dress has a lot of potential. It wasn't likely to sell as it was anyhow, but it's just way too much bright yellow for me to put on a doll as is so I had to do something else with it, shrug. I still haven't figured what I am going to do with the Snow White outfit but since I've got as much chance of selling it as I do of winning the lotto I'll probably do something with it eventually...
http://www.amazon.com/Madame-Alexander- ... d_sxp_f_ptThis is the Snow White and the Cinderella. I kind of wish they'd had the Cinderella. She had the Jade face with blond hair but they didn't unfortunately. I would have liked to have reworked that blue gown into something less Disney. I don't have a light blue evening gown for my 16" girls as yet and sans that flounce and with some glass beads on it that gown would have been lovely. I got my blond Jade in the end though. Edit Brit from DH is also one. She looks so totally different though when she's got blond hair, not Asian at all, it's fascinating. Those are the only 3 princesses I've seen them do in that size and type of doll. I don't think they did any more. I haven't seen Ariel or Jasmine or any of the other princesses. Pity. I'd have liked to have seen what they did with Ariel or Anastasia....
http://www.amazon.com/Madame-Alexander- ... roduct_tophttp://www.amazon.com/Madame-Alexander- ... d_sxp_f_ptI think this Belle is pretty good actually, but no, the eyes being hazel green are perfectly correct for Belle. They could do brown too I guess but I've not seen too many Belle's that don't have at least some green as well. Her hair varies some as well. I've got Belle dolls that have more of a dark brown brunette hair style and Belle dolls that are more of a dark wine red or a mix of both. It's like the people at Disney can't really make up their mind on that score. The eyes are the same I think. They can be very changeable from doll to doll depending upon when she was made, and who they authorized to make her. I personally like Belle with the dark wine hair and more green eyes but it can go either way apparently and to me in the film her hair looks more brown than red.
