2016 Monster High reboot

Postby quidam » Sat Dec 26, 2015 9:38 am

Has anyone heard of the reboot for the MH line?

I saw a couple of pictures on Facebook that Confessions of a Doll Collectors Daughter shared. They look more friendly and I kind of like them. I've looked around for more images, but can't find anything other than the FB ones. There seems to have been talk about it happening on a few boards, though.

It seems that most MH collectors don't want them messing with the line. While I can understand that, I also think the new look is kind of refreshing. But, then, I am not a die hard MH collector. My doll collection tends to be random, so new things make me happy.

What do the more serious collectors on here think of the change? Anybody on here who didn't like them before that might actually consider them now? Anybody who loved them that might drop them after the change?

I apologize that I can't post pictures from my phone. If you haven't seen them already, search for the FB share.

I've seen a couple of pictures of the main ones and they're said to resemble the animation a bit better. They're pretty enough and as long as the QC isn't worse they should be fine.

Personally I'd treat it as a reason to not buy any more. I like my Monsters but I'm fine with them as they are but I'm running out of room and feel I'm losing track of why I started with them.

The pictures look like they are only changing the makeup and hair to me. Personally, I think the promo pictures look really nice; I especially like the brighter looking eyes. The question is how they will look on the shelf though, because what comes from the factory is not always exactly like the pictures. :P

Are those new? Did you see they have arms that do not bend? And no wrist joints?

I do not remember any stiff MH dolls being made before, am I mistaken? I am confused.

The reboot is supposed to have a new face design. The link Kirahfaye posted is what they should look like.

As for the ones you posted- well, someone is sure to correct me if I am wrong, but I am suspicious that they might be knockoffs. There seems to be a few that have straight arms listed on Amazon, and they don't seem to be quite to MH standards for clothing and shoes. Plus the descriptions seem oddly worded.

But then, I'm not a MH expert. Maybe someone else can say if they are legit?

The ones on Amazon look legit. And the quality is way lower looking. The new paint design looks cheaper and "dumbed down" to me. The colors are too bright and they look less like a fashion doll and more like a pre-schooler toy.

Thank you. I do think they are legit, since the seller is amazon, not a third party seller. They do look cheaper. And they make those lower quality dolls right after they came up with the awesome 17 inch dolls that pose so great!

That's the end of it for me then, the jointing was one of the biggest draws. Less joints=less production cost=cheaping out.
