My 1/6 collection

Postby Arkinlae » Thu Apr 07, 2016 3:26 pm

This is not including my Monster/Ever After High seeing as I'm sure everyone knows what they look like. I'd been wanting to catalogue my dolls for a while, but still don't have a space to do a big 'family photo' Some are just childhood dolls I felt were to special to get rid of and others I may use for custom practice/ideas.

Image
First is my Pullip Shinku 06 she's currently bald as I have just Obitsued her but her head is wobbly so will need to find a solution keeping her cap/wig off so can have easy access to the screws
Image
My Dal Tinkerbell I got her solely to customise, but after she arrived I liked her face up to much. She's now stuck on a Type 3/Dal hybrid body, I just enchanged the Dal torso for the Type 3. Yes the wig seems out of place with the outfit, it was on my SDs originally but I had a new idea for her character I wanted to try out.
Image
My oldest Barbie (that I still have all the rest have gone) and my newest (the last one I bought before the 'I'm to old for dolls stage) I feel like leaving the right as is for some reason. The left could well be just for face up practice or there may be a custom I have in mind unless I think of a more fitting head
Image
Sleeping Beauty doll I kept her mostly because of my mess up, which was a result of trying to get a mark off with nail polish remover and getting it over her whole face. In a moment of panic I scraped together some craft paint as it was all I had at the time and attempted to rectify it. So I suppose it unofficial is my first face up lol :P
Image
I don't know if there's an official title for this girl but she is one of the dolls that I got on a trip to Disney World Florida when I was 7(?) I don't know what era Barbie she is but I think she has the prettiest face mold out of all of them. Don't really know what to say about this I think she's complete, maybe missing shoes I guess I was never great at keeping track of those.
She seems to have come out the worst with some kind of staining on her leg, here's hoping it's just dirt, but I have no idea how to get rid if it isn't
Image
Alice in Wonderland I got from Disney World I hadn't even seen the Disney film so I don't know what drew me to her, she came with a tea set too which gets passed between all of my lot. I feel she needs something doing to her face up wise just to make her less starey.

Padme Amidala I can't remember the exact name something about hair she originally had a lovely ponytail I took it out of course, (being that I always had to have my hair tied up for school I couldnt stand any of my dolls to have them). Her face is very grubby so need to think of something that wont take the face paint off, fortunate the head I think was cast in white so that shouldn't be a problem. I really wanted to have as many different ones as they made as I loved all of her outifts but she was the only one I ended up with, maybe one day.
ImageImage
Kim Possible I was all about this girl when I was 15 so when I saw her in the Disney Store even at the risk of embarrassment in front of my friends I went and got her. I think she does an alright job of matching the style of the show at least not so much that I can think me making improvements would be better. All I can think is to straighten the hair slightly as there is a curl to it, but that could well be to imitate the volume her hair had in the show and as I'm no hair/wig stylist I dont think I'd be able to mimic that myself.

She was complete I did have both socks from her cheerleading outfit, until I got her dressed for the picture and then it magically disappeared I am still hunting for it.
Image
Violet Parr/Incredible (whichever you prefer :P) Again another one that after seeing The Incredibles I knew I had to have when I saw her in the Disney Store. She also came with jeans, blue jumper and Converse when we see her as a civilian. I think she is a perfect translation from film to doll her face is perfect. Again she is complete I couldnt find her second glove for the photo but did locate afterwards (typical) her civilian outfit is in another box that I didn't want to have to delve into at the moment, but I will update as I prefer her without the mask.

I have been tempted at the idea of rebodying her as there are a number of niggles. Her waist is very wobbly it won't stay in one position most of the time, her feet are rubber so she can barely stand at the best of times (she has bend and snap knees though) and her Incredibles uniform is painted on, the gloves are the only part made of fabric, it does work I suppose the idea of having a doll that would never be 'naked' seems strange :P but as her body is stylised exactly like the film I think it would definitely take something away so I'm on the fence about it. I hate not being able to use her other than for display.
I'm considering taking her along to Incredibles 2 if it ever comes out (it's been said it'll be 2019 gah).

LOTR Arwen it says she's made by Marvel which I found interesting she is probably the favourite of all my childhood collection as she pretty much encompasses what I want from dolls nowadays, posability of action figures with removable clothes and hair that can be styled (from what I read when I was looking up the difference between doll and action figure those are the only two factors that made the difference). Her hands also look like they could hold things another action figure trait I'd have said, but she didn't come with any accessories just the doll. She did have a tiara in as her movie outfit, but it was already loose when I unboxed her and it was so tiny it got lost.

I was excited to get her back in the day, I already loved elves and liked Arwen and I'd been bought a Aragorn and Legolas set for either Christmas or birthday and wanted her to go alongside, but once I'd got her home (she was another one I purchased on a holiday) and put her with the rest of my collection she was very overlooked. I thought her body was ugly (I obviously wasn't thinking about the posing then) and her proportions weren't the same and it just didnt feel like she fit in with the rest of my dolls (I'll admit the fact her head is smaller still feel rather strange even though it probably is more realistic). However I'd forgotten how much I'd missed her. She's another one I'd love to have all her movie outfits for. Another project to add to the list.
Image
My Be Goth dolls Esperanza and Princess Ai yes I was a goth during my teenage years (admittedly I would still be following it if the fashion wasn't so pricey) Princess Ai was bought to go along with the manga which I owned at the time, I liked the art style of it, but not much more really.

Esperanza I just loved the aesthetic and the idea of 'goth dolls', but in this instance I didn't feel I was able to do much with them. This was after the point I was 'playing' with dolls and hadn't got into the thought of customising/photography posing yet so they just sat around doing nothing.
Image
My one and only My Scene. I had been wanting to try something different from Barbie so I had gone out with the intention to buy a Bratz (a 2002 one for point of reference) but when we got to the shop and my mother saw which doll I wanted to buy she kept going on about how ugly they were, she tried to convince me to get something else and then pointed out the My Scene. I have no idea what swayed me but there we go. I must have fallen in love with her hair as she had the most gorgeous curls, they've gone slightly ratty now and not sure what I could do to restore them. I have some of the fabric conditioner mix which has been great on my other dolls hair, but when combing it seems to straighten curls out to much. I did have a thought that I could turn her into Legends of Tomorrow Hawk Girl if all else fails though.

The other girl is just another Barbie, one of the cloth ones you could sleep with, however I never did with this one as I like her hair to much and didn't want to ruin it. I would like to rebody her if I get the chance. One of the elastic bands keeping her pigtails (could they be classed as odango's?) in has broken so I'm hoping I can sort that out before it completely comes loose.
Image
My NoviStars okay maybe they might not count as 1/6 but one of them is on a Monster High body so I say it counts. I have been debating whether to get an Ell Edee one for the girl on the left. Right is on a Create a Monster Blob Girl body as her original body was pink and glittery anyway. I always liked the Novi Stars aesthetic but didn't think they were worth the price, but luckily I managed to get both of these very heavily reduced.

Funnily enough I found that the box art of Roe Botik (the left) actually has her pictured with knee and elbow joints which if they'd kept that for all the Novi Stars I would have been more swayed. Carmela Sweet at first liking the idea of a doll based on candy (my original plan was to try and get a Sweet Screams MH set) but then I watched Space Dandy and now I think I'll be keeping the alien idea. Roe used to have some black hair mixed with the green, but it just didn't look right so I cut it out. I've had an idea to reroot the hair with wires to look more robot like, but unsure on if it will look right or if the falls will need the hair to stay in.
Image
Last but not least my vintage girls. The Dollikin Action Girl (left) was a charity shop find, I'd been hoping for a rescue doll but she turned out to be in pretty good condition, just the ends of her hair that I have stayed straggly. I'm getting a Silk Spectre II vibe from her so I would like to do a costume for her, but I fear the thigh gap will make it look off. The other girl is a vintage Sindy from the 80s 1986 onwards I believe. I'd never considered owning a vintage Sindy before until I saw Toy Pincher's customs and they somehow made me fall in love with her face. I haven't been able to justify the funds for a 70s one yet but this girl is a step back in the right direction. It's a change from only owning the 90s Hasbro ones too.

Dollikin would look great in that outfit, if she wants one why not make it for her? I've got some vintage Hong Kong clones so I know their appeal.

I'm thinking maybe the graphic novel one as at least there's a bit of a skirt that might help cover it even if the material is supposed to be sheer.

Great dolls! They all have a story or a reason you kept them, I can tell they are all special to you and that's the really important part. The Novi Stars look fun!

I was lucky enough to find a Fashionista body in a charity shop so a transplant could begin sooner than I thought. Not the ideal body I was going for as she'd be unable to stand on her own, but at least there's articulation :) I was surprised that she had torso articulation. I was expecting it to be one piece like my Beyond Pink Christie (which I no longer have). The skin tone very slightly off, but I don't think it's really noticeable.
Image
The joints are a bit loose in places, obviously a well played with body
Image
She looks a lot happier now though compared to her cloth body. I think it's brought out her hair even more now. Her old body is probably just going to end up being a floating head keeper for now
Image
I would definitely like to replace it with a Made to Move body if I get the chance.

I found Violet's 'jumper' so here she is in complete civilian mode. I really like her like this especially her little Converse, they're a complete pain to get on though given that her feet (and legs) are made from rubber so bend really easily. You can see more of her face too, though it looks like she could have some eye wonk going on? I never noticed before she's been in the mask that long.

I had one of those soft bodied barbies as a kid, I'm almost positive it was the same one you have there. She's the last Barbie I remember having... I liked her because stuffed cloth was my favorite kind of 'articulation' at the time. It's cool to see her on a solid body.

Do the light streaks in her hair glow in the dark? I might be thinking of something else, but I thought that doll was a sleepover doll whose hair glowed.
