Gillian was a yardsale find. Her lips were painted with a tacky nail polish and her hair was... huge. Strangely enough, Gillian was more of a subtractive custom than an additive one. I removed her lip, freckle and eye make up paint, leaving the eyes intact and redone the freckles. The polish stained her lips but it's not a horrid colour so I left it. Her hair I cut and styled because it was too unmanageable otherwise.
Also my local toystore had the repro wedding day giftsety marked down so I bought them and put all their fancy crud back in the box. Woo.
Barbs had the oldstyle neck connection so I hollowed it out and stuck her on a Liv body. Ken on the other hand has a neck HALF the size of his modern counterparts so... It'll be awhile before I find a body with a suitable neck connection.
Other things, both bodies they came on are hard plastic. It's like evolution into the model muse body except the whole "getting better part".
I suppose this barbs won't be on the good side of my retro girl squad. She just looks undeniably like a haunty, stuck up, snobby bitch that makes makes about how much she affords in any conversation. I don't believe Mattel that this face was one of the average Wisconsin 16 year old girl. Nor that Ken is her boyfriend. Son maybe, but not an equal. Lol, Cougar!Barbie.
Is every vintage male doll I own doomed to be dumb looking? Poor Spud looks like the only vintage smart guy I own... Ken looks more to be the easily swayed minion of Cougar!Barbie rather than a fullblown villain like Barbs up there. Lols, damn.
I like vintage Barbs and Ken, they just don't hold a candle to Midge and Allan.
