Bratz dolls!

Postby PaleAmethyst » Sat Dec 31, 2011 1:31 pm

I'm actually a little excited by these. I'm not sure if they are particularly new or anything, but I caught sight of a collection of Bratz dolls that are fully jointed like Liv and MH girls are.

I don't know much about the Bratz line (save for the legal trouble that surrounded them and the horrible movies), so I have no clue about their quality overall. I do, however, really like their looks. I'm just a bit bewildered by their cat theme. I don't particularly like cats, or animal prints, but I think that was the thing that stopped my from buying one of the girls on the spot. All I wanted was a different outfit on them!

Currently, they are only at ToysRUs, but I think that are brand new, so that may be why they aren't listed anywhere else yet.

I also saw some Bratz with joints but from different line (they had guitars and are extemely expensinve :( ). I have two old Bratz but my first one is completely forgotten at my grandma while mom's girl gets a bit attention but still neither me or mom like her much. It's just that it's extremely hard to get them clothes and I'm not really fond of their faces.

I like the faces (more so than the often unintentionally derpy Livs, at least), but I love sleepy eyes on dolls, anyway.

ToysRUs lists them for $19.99, which is pretty comparable to other jointed dolls sold there.

I don't like bratz. I'd only buy one to repaint. maybe.

I've never looked at their eyes at being sleepy, only provocative and 'come hither'. xD

But. I do like cats. And I have a lot of cat dolls. soooooooo.... I'll just have to see them in person. LOL

I bet they are trying to compete with Monster High. The joints and crazy parts.

The movie line sold with a camera for stop motion were jointed, I have one of those bodies on my Dr Formman in the Doll House MD gang. But they're still just Bratz.

I never thought of their eyes as sleepy also but I never thought of them as provocative either. To me they kinda look like they have a "don't mess with me" attitude.

I also thought it was to emphasize the heavy make-up the dolls have.

That makes me wonder; why such low opinions of Bratz dolls, when the equally suggestive Monster High dolls are well loved?

Honestly, while I do like the Ghoulia I own, I'm put off by some MH's crazy skin colors, and Liv's vacant eyes, so the fact that the Bratz dolls, that have far superior clothing options, paint work, and natural skin tones, put out jointed dolls was an absolute delight. While it's obvious they were made to compete with the other jointed dolls, it's still nice to see options from some many different lines.

I don't think the Bratz dolls look as bad as they used to. I was about...10? Maybe.. When they came out. I thought they were the most ugliest dolls I had ever seen. I've always thought they looked like whores. Always. I didn't like the MyScene either(I do like them better than Bratz though).
They've always reminded me of the girls on Lowrider.

A lot of people compare the bratz to the monster highs, but I don't see a similarity beyond the big lips/eyes. I love art and the mh to me at least, look like the the fashion drawings that fashion designers use. MH are just extremely stylized, and I find that amazing. haha I also thoroughly enjoy the originality and the puns associated with the line.

Bratz also have really crappy hair. Really bad. Not as bad as the BFCink, but close. And they are expensive? So I don't quite understand that.

I also saw the Catz dolls today at walmart. I was a bit disappointed. I thought that the ears/tails were actually attached, not just headbands.
