Speaking of Pullip/Taeyang...

Postby claws » Mon Jan 23, 2012 10:06 pm

I hadn't given these dolls too much thought up until a few months ago when I noticed how amazingly cute they are. Then I read someone's post here about them and followed links out of curiosity. Now I'm thinking of them a little more seriously (seriously enough to consider maybe spending $100 on one). I saw these on Pullip Style and got all excited:
http://pullipstyle.com/pullipstyle/product_info.php?cPath=21_74&products_id=820
http://pullipstyle.com/pullipstyle/product_info.php?cPath=21_74&products_id=821

And then, being a big Audrey Hepburn fan, really freaked when I saw this:
http://pullipstyle.com/pullipstyle/product_info.php?cPath=21_60&products_id=484

And then, and THEN! Him:

Ugh, that's so adorable...with his tiny gun and little handcuffs and oh my goooosh...
:D
So I was thinking about buying at least one sometime soon, and then maybe another later. But I'm not sure if I should get one of these guys OR if I should try to get a blank one (are there even blank ones?) and do my own customizing, which I love to do, and always makes me get much more attached to a doll. And since I've been on an Inuyasha bender lately, I thought it would be really cool to make an Inuyasha doll, and Taeyang seems perfect for that. But how hard would that be? I've never made a character that wasn't my own original before, and I don't know how difficult/expensive it would to be to find the right wig and the clothes (because I can't sew well, and let's face it, will probably never learn). Of course, then I'll be wanting to make a Kagome to keep him company...>_<
I have a feeling that there probably are Inuyasha Taeyangs out there, and if anyone knows of or has one, I would love to see how it turned out. Otherwise, if you have any advice, that'd be great too.

There aren't blank ones but there are used ones sometimes on Ebay that need a little extra lovin'. Finding a wig is the easy part since they take SD sized wigs but customizing a pullip/taeyang/dal is a little complicated. You gotta take their eye mech out to do it as well as the eye lids. Defineitly fun dolls though. (I play with Len at least once a day either posing him, making his eyes go in each direction or just plain hugging him..) They're amazingly worth the money though. If you wanna get a Fullset you are in for AMAZING quality. I was shocked and pleasantly surprised. They're made out of the really high quality vinyl.

I (biasedly) vote for Audrey Hepburn if you get a full set!
I'm mostly on Tumblr now.

Alopecia No Hime: I don't mind taking them apart (that sounds kinda fun!) And they sound like a reeaaally good deal for the amount of money I'd be spending; getting two Volks 1/6 Dollfies costs about as much as one Pullip/Taeyang fullset, and all I get is two naked dolls. XD Oh wow, I feel like I need one now...or two.
Thank you so much!

Gift_in_Edge: You know, I'm leaning heavily in her direction, too. XD She's so adorable, and she even comes with a second outfit! I didn't know she existed or else I might have gotten her a long time ago. <3

It does look fun. (I haven't tried to take my Dal apart yet. He's perfect as he is for me. XD) I definietly think you should get whichever one you like best and there's also a lot of hybriding options too. Plus they're just awesome.

I can tell you what I know from my personal experience. This summer I took two long haired pullips. Their hair is absolutely horrible, the ends were tagled and fizzy even as I took them out of the box and the more I tried to fix it the worst it got.Hair treatment with cold and hot water worked a bit and now the hair is better than when I bought them but still not great. I don't have other pullips to tell you if all Pullips hair is like that but I asked a customizer that has many and she tolds me she usually change their wigs as the stock wigs are hard to deal with. Anyhow I took a look at the pullips your considering to buy and they all seem to have short hair... I think that could be a clever choice! XD
Though I have to say their outfits are very well made and their faces pretty (but this lat thing you can tell even from pictures!) :)
If you want to do customs (I thought about doing it too) and you'd like to practice you can find clone white heads sold on eBay (pullips only, no taeyangs), I don't know if you're a purist but maybe they could be helpful to get familiar in customizing that particular molds. If you make customs you can also take an Obitsu body for your custom because in my opinion the pullip stock body is quite low quality (and I'm not familiar with high quality vinil bjds, the comparisons I have in my mind are barbies and obitsus). Their wigs can be easily found, if you want I can give you links to a site that sells wigs and eyechips for them! ^^

I swore I've seen pullip heads on 1/3 scale obitsu bodies before and they were amazing.

I saw one too but it looked very...Odd on a 1/3 plus a lot of heavy modding had to be done to get it to fit on the neck piece.

Sorry I didn't see this sooner. He was released in December I think. He was on Pullip Style but I don't see him any more. :( Pinoko is still there. She's a Byul.
