Favorite clothing sources for 1/6

Postby richila » Fri Jul 30, 2010 11:01 am

I make most of my girls' clothing, but I buy stuff for my boys. I just tried a duster coat from Newline miniatures on my OD Tae and it fits! I plan to stock up on jackets and shirts from them for my beautiful boy. http://www.newlineminiatures.com/
I am also waiting impatiently for Old Joe infirmary to re-open.

I forgot to mention the duster is lined, trimmed in leather and has tiny working buttons. Best of all-I didn't have to make it. Squeeeee!

I keep an eye out for sale so that I can get Licca/Jenny clothing (tops at least) at least they aren't as pink or sparkly as Barbie. If I'm lucky my guys can get casual Ken clothes to share with the PB size gals. Otherwise they share unisex cygirl type clothing with the PB gals.
Sometimes knock off Barbie dolls have good usable clothing that i really like and wish I bought a few more

Ebay sometimes have nice stuff for the guys. Like White pants
Re-ment is hit or miss. My PB size gal borrowed a green hoodie from the Obi-gals and never gave it back.
Azone is strictly for splurging and projects when i don't know how to make outfits

Otherwise I distract my dolls and dangle a cosplay project outfit in front of them. They can wear that for months on end without complaining

I have a bad tendency to splurge on Azone stuff a lot more than I really should. I was OK until I started buying the Obitsu 25 cm bodies and there just wasn't much cheap stuff out there to fit them. Honestly, the Pure Neemo stuff is a bit "hit or miss" in terms of fit on the Obitsu 25s but it's better than anything else I can find.

Male figures are a bit more flexible in terms of what they can wear but I generally stick with older generation figures like Dragon, BBI G1 and GI Joe Super Articulated bodies. There's so much out there that I haven't bought like the Obitsu Slim male and various bodies from Hot Toys, Soldier Story and others. The fit of clothes designed for these newer bodies can be a bit less predictable than it was a few years ago but the prices are often still cheaper than the "high end" clothes for the girls, like Volks, Azone, Parabox and Cuties.
I usually buy my "manly-man stuff" from US on-line retailers like Monkey Depot or War Toys, as well as a few eBay sellers in the US, HK and Taiwan. Probably thanks to the crappy world economy, I've been finding some pretty good deals on eBay recently. Heck, a couple of HK sellers are offering free shipping on loose parts without an appreciable increase in the per-item cost.

I forgot to add my usual "bitch and moan" about the lack of action-adventure type clothes sized for Obitsu/Dollfie/SAJ 27 cm girls. Some stuff, like the clothes from Dragon's first generation females, and pants and t-shirts from the their second gen bodies, works OK. However, there really isn't much variety and availability can be sporadic at best.

For those awesome newline miniature clothes, how do the shoes compare to, say, Obitsu?

My Souldoll Little Kimmy has gorgeous feet, but they're in proportion to his body. Which means they're naturally too small for male Obitsu shoes and too big for female Obtisu shoes. I have one or two pairs of shoes but he can't stand up well in them. lol

I love the newline clothes and shoes, but I have the feeling those boys are waaay too big for my delicate little Kimmy, considering most of my slim Obitsu and male Volks clothes practically engulf him. Barbie clothes fit him much better. But pink and glittery doesn't really work for him. ^^;

The boots are 4cm, I have a pair on one of my PD mini girls whose feet are 3.4 cm.

I make most of Chae-ri's clothes, but I'm not above raiding the fashion doll aisle for something that pops out at me. For instance, Chae-ri's black leather jacket is a Barbie fashion find.
