Today??? When did they ever? That doesn't even look close to traditional.

OK, Basic Model 15 requires that I ask:

Can Ken heads be put on a body with more articulation?

My guess is no, given that the necks are big.

And all the really lovely Basic Barbies have such cool heads, but many of them don't match the skintone of poseable dolls. There is one really lovely African American Barbie with really dark skin, but I want poseable bodies...

*sighs*

You could probably put him on the Harley Davidson Ken body, though it's only available in a pricey two-doll giftset. There's also this body, perhaps?

The newest Kens coming out have had a new neck type. Most Ken heads have a neck that just plugs in, so they can only look side to side, but these new collector's ones (like Harley Davidson Ken, the Twilight guys and these new basics) attach like Barbie's. I remember seeing someone try the Edward head (which looks like the same mold as #15 there) on an Obitsu slim. It fit, but there was a huge gap.

And I agree about the skintone matching. I just love the hair on #4, but the only poseable body I can think of that dark is Fashion Royalty, WAY to pricey to get just to put a head on! I wanted to see if she'd match the darkest SiS, so I could get elbows at least, but ever since TRU got SiS (none of our other stores carry that line =/ ) they haven't gotten any more #4's so I could check the match.
Where did all these 1/6s come from?!

It's nice to know they changed the necks but I don't use Mr Sparkle enough to get him a different body yet. Sounds like he won't be getting an Obitsu.

I haven't seen any new SIS dolls at the regular stores so I'd recommend stocking up if you want any. The darkest SIS and darkest Basic look like they'd match, I have the SIS and played skin tone tango not too long ago. It would make sense they only have a handfull of recipes for skin tones, thus the lightest AA and Hispanic dolls are quite close. If enough people tell Mattel they might expand the 100 poses skin tones.

Has anyone thought of getting paint chips to help match doll skin tones?

Paint chips is a brilliant idea! If not slightly obsessive-sounding, hehe.

I went to Toys R Us today and they did have #4! Clearly, all I had to do was complain on the internet. XD She is a little darker than the darkest SiS they had, the one in the two-pack.
I wonder if this one would work, though.

I wonder if a Neo GUY volks body would work (the beefy man muscle one).

I'd love to see that combo. That might really work.

Ooh, I'll have to check next time I'm home. That is one good-looking Ken, and I'm not too fond of Nate's current head anyways... I will say, though, that there seems to be a significant height difference between Neo Guys and Kens; Nate, at least, is much shorter than Spock.
