Oh, nothing's happened yet, actually, but I'm a big Hans redemption supporter since honestly, he never intended to be a villain at all, (all he wanted to was to marry Elsa and be able to leave his abusive family, to find a place to belong---but it all just went downhill when Elsa had issues of her own that were unanticipated! She refused to meet anyone and he only had 24 hrs to woo her. :laughs: But he never wanted to harm anyone, just wanted to escape his own family. Remember at the ice palace, he said 'NO harm is to come to the Queen!" and saved her---NOT only from herself when she was about to kill the 2 Weselton thugs, but then again FROM the thugs when they attempted to kill her. That was stupid if he just wanted to get rid of Elsa----it would've been perfect for him! Two soldiers kill her in self-defense from a 'sorceress'? But he saved her! And also, another note is that ONLY Hans was able to reach Elsa. His words reached into her soul, "Don't be the monster they fear you are!" and she stopped her actions instantly of killing the thugs with malice, after she had already subdued them.
At that moment, she and Hans gazed at each other for at least 15 seconds---just looking in each other's eyes, and then HE saved her again, when those thugs managed to break free enough to try to shoot her. Why should he do that if he wanted the throne? It would've been so much easier to just let them kill her or let her kill them and they SHE'D be tried for murder/etc. But no, he saved her---to his detriment .NO ONE else was able to touch her like this---not even Anna, who she shot in the heart instead of listening to. (Semi-accidentally but still. She ONLY heard Hans'. Ever. Even in the dungeon, she opened up to HIM alone and explained. She never even told Anna these things.)

If you think about it, what he knew and all he had to go by was what Anna told him when she got back: "Elsa froze my heart." "'But you said she'd never hurt you!" and Anna replied, "I was wrong."
So all he knew was that Elsa harmed Anna INTENTIONALLY, and was freezing the entire kingdom. He had already begged Elsa to stop the winter and to his SHOCK (you could see how shocked and saddened he was at this point) she heartfelt told him, "Don't you see? I can't!" He did NOT want to hear that. He wanted to save her, to have her save Arendelle but everything was just crumbling around him. He was starting to think he wouldn't have his happy end with Elsa. (Or Anna, having had to settle for her to even be here.)

He genuinely felt he had to do something to save the people---and in the end, he thought killing Elsa was the only way to stop the winter.
He did get 'power hungry' after the foreign ambassadors said 'You are all Arendelle has left.'. You could just see his eyes come to that realization (which meant he hadn't considered that before) and all the power went to his head at that point, too. At the part where he left Anna to die, he knew he didn't love her, so his kiss wouldn't work. He had been bullied all his life, so for once, he wanted to be the bully. It was awful but he is only human (well, fiction human) and many people do horrible things they don't really mean or didn't intend and are later truly sorry for their actions. He didn't kill Anna----he just couldn't save her and taunted her. He did try to kill Elsa---but he thought it was the ONLY way to save the country and for the greater good---and Anna had even given him more fodder that Elsa was dangerous. He didn't know anything else---only we, the audience knew Elsa was not truly a villain on purpose. At that point, Elsa even wanted him to kill her, since SHE didn't know how to stop the winter either.

So he can be redeemed and even in the Disney Parks, they are hinting at such. (Apart from the Hans & Elsa doll sets---of which there are two. The ONLY pair to have two different sets. My theory is one is the 'couple' set and the other is the 'hero/villain' set.) Anyway, at the parks, there are Mickey & MInnie statues dressed up as Hans and Elsa TOGETHER. There is a Frozen Live Stage Show at the Hyperion, where, at the end curtain call, Hans and Elsa HUG, HOLD HANDS and she even grabs and hangs onto his arm, while they smile at each other; and at the Disney World ride, the 'newspaper' they show you says that Hans is doing penance for his sins. (PENANCE!)

So we're all hoping that in the sequel there will be an actual Hans redemption arc, and then, slight hints of Helsa! I'm not expecting full-blown kissing or anything (yet) but friendly tension, maybe a blush, would be lovely.

Mostly, a Hans redemption, which the Frozen writers, Jennifer Lee and Chris Buck have already said that they want Hans back, to redeem him!

So, here's hoping!!!! (And if not, there's always fanfiction! I'm a forever Helsa fan!)
